High mileage cheap BMW with shingding tyres for fun?
Discussion
I am currently scanning for manual BMW's without large wheels which will cost a lot to reshod and thinking if putting on shingdingalings on to teach me how to steer with the rear.
Do I just need to put them on the back I am thinking or is this madness?
E36's look tempting but aren't they all rotten now and am I discounting auto's unnecessarily?

I've considered putting cheap crap tyres on mine before, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Normally, bad budget tyres are;
-unpredictable in wet/damp conditions
-noisy
-damaging to fuel economy
-more prone to failure
etc etc. so in the end I decided to consult the handbook and fit the smallest approved tyre size but get high quality rubber. Try to get a car with the 2.5 or 2.8 and a limited slip diff.
ETA: oh yeah and it's going to need a manual 'box.

You'd need a big engine in an E36 to make it misbehave because it's got a great chassis. Pity to ruin it with poor tyres in any event.
E30 with a 2.5 can be tail-happy on good tyres. Second gear on a damp road and the back wheels are eager to overtake the front. IMO it would be truly lethal on poor tyres. Please keep off public roads....
