C63...,.anyone decatted theirs?
Discussion
I'm wanting to release some more of the glorious amg sound and it appears that a decat may be the way forward
Ive been reading into it, and there seems to be a myriad of possibilities.......primary cat delete, secondary cat delete, resonator delete, x pipe, h pipe etc etc....it's all abit baffling, and the costs seem to differ quite a bit
I'm basically looking for a bit mor bass and a tad more volume....but want to avoid drone, and anything that sounds obnoxious...
So, over to you folk.....I've asked on other forums but ph always has a knack of sorting the wheat from the chaff!

I think many have gone down the aftermarket route with regards to AMG exhausts and nearly all have returned to OEM after struggling with drone, barking and the like.
Given Eisenmann (well regarded exhaust manufacturer and one of the more expensive aftermarket providers out there) spent large volumes of money designing the OEM exhaust system for our cars i can't help but think that they got it right from the start. Check the youtube videos of decatted C63's and you'll see that they are a bit OTT for everyday use. The only folks who seem to appreciate the ridiculous volume is the yanks and the London Arabs.
Another option is to speak to Phil at Rebellion. He offers a switchable system which means you can have OEM or LOUD!! at the touch of a button.

Thanks eddy....always nice to read your summaries!
So do you think a secondary cat delete using the milltek straight pipes will be ott?
Youtube vids are very difficult to guage sound and im keen not to make the car sound silly.....everyone says it sounds great outside.....I just find it a bit muted inside!

secondary cat delete is fine
it is slightly louder but crisper
milltek fine but expensive for what is basically straight through pipes
an x pipe or h pipe is a nice sound
i had a CKS PERFORMANCE pipe
it arrived the next day after ordering but was in my opinion poorly made with rough welds on the outside so i could only guess it was the same on the inside!
it sounded great tho! but it has to be welded in place
some on here have also tried local exhaust manufacturers and I would think that would be a cheaper way to go
...people always say if you can afford a c63 why worry about the cost.....
penny saved.....
i am looking to do something with my shooting brake cls but i have found an alternative
i use a mito diesel all week for work @50-60 mpg then jump in the amg for when i want to blow away some cobwebs
it is slightly louder but crisper

From what I can see, the Miltek straight pipes are the cheapest way forward....
I will try to see if a local exhaust place can do it using their own pipes...

This for me is OTT.

This for me is bang on. Wonderful noise! Ignoring its a Black Series.

I'd be really interested to hear what the Milltek is like, their video struggles to differentiate between the standard and modified which is understandable without proper recording gear...
Me too....I'm surprised that there are no internet write ups of the milltek as it appears to be the most cost effective aftermarket setup available.....Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
