Hi all,

I've got a problem.

I recently went to sell my Land Rover Discovery V8, however before I could do so I thought I'd better look out the V5 and history only to discover that, during our recent house move they seem to have gone missing frown I've torn the house apart and am coming to terms that I'll most likely never find them.

I know I can apply for a new V5 but without the history I'd imagine that the car would take a serious hit in terms of value. Has anyone ever had a similar situation?

Get a replacement service book and ask the dealers to stamp it for you.....smile

Better than nothing,do you have invoices for the services ?

Same for me...

Recently lost all my RX-7's history everything from the original bill of sale in Japan, the import documents and every service, MOT, tax disc etc...

It has to be somewhere, so I'm sure I'll find it!

Without it, the car is worth fk all though! frown

Unfortunatly JLR do not keep centralised records, so you are at the mercy of the dealer(s) and hope they haven't changed hands/computers etc. Old MOT's are always good to help varify the mileage.

  • V5 from DVLA
  • Duplicate invoices or computer printout from your garage
  • Nice MOT certificate history (if over 3 years old)
Job done.

I'll give this a shot as I'll get some back, unfortunately I've only had it just over a year and the move was about 5 months ago so all I have now is a few bits for one service and a couple of things done since I got here. Everything else was with the service book for 'Safe Keeping'rolleyes

The only hope is to do a bit of snooping to see if I can track where it's been before and ask the garages it's been at for anything they may have but given it's 12yrs old and has moved around a bit I'm not holding out much hope.

I know it'll turn up as well but you can guarantee that'll be after I've flogged it for next to nowt because of said poor history.

If you've got some old MOTs they may have carried out the servicing as well, worth a call. At 12 yrs old not having a history will effect, it but fortunately not completely kill it. smile

No fear, after a month and a halfs searching by me and most of the family, my mum found it, in an obvious place, in a box I had dismissed as 'Just books, I've already been through it' boxedin

Glad the lot's been found and thanks all for the great advice, I'm away to hang my head in shame.

A 12 year old v8 disco? I wouldn't have thought the value would be that great anyway, it'll probably only appeal to offroaders who'll hack it about anyway.
