Of all the new vehicles that have come out here this year, which one would you most like to have sitting on your drive on Christmas morning?

I missed out on Evo Car of the Year this year, as I moved to Canada but have just watched the video on the website. Some awesome cars there but it annoys me how the selection gets even more elitist and irrelevant to 99% of people every year. The only car that I could have remotely contemplated being able to afford was the Mini. Most of the cars are mildly tweaked versions of existing models e.g. Audi R8 V10+ and Mercedes SLS Black Edition and genuinely new vehicles like the Jaguar F-Type and Fiesta ST/RenaultSport Clio have been missed out.
Long gone have the ideas when a 15000 pound Renault hot hatch can get into the top 3 amongst the supercar opposition.

So what's your favourite new car of the year?

AM Vanquish?
Ferrari F12?
Porsche 911 GT3?
Alfa Romeo 4C?
Jaguar F-Type?
New Range Rover?

Or something else?

This has had rave reviews over here (not sure whether it's as brilliant as they say or whether the American motoring press are just biased) but it certainly has all the right ingredients for me. RWD, big NA V8, manual gearbox and apparently a quality interior! The only magazine that didn't make it their car of the year chose the Cadillac CTS, which is just ugly IMO.

Has this been reviewd by the UK motoring press yet? What did they think of it?

For sheer desirability (even though I'm not sure about the gearbox), I would have to go for this. Looks gorgeous, magnificent V12 engine and it's an Aston!

What would your car of the year be for 2013?

Corvette is a good shout. Looks lovely lick

I was underwhelmed by the F-Type personally. It's a looker, but extremely expensive for what it offers imo.

Tesla S is a breakthrough though for electric cars. Third best selling executive car in the USA after the E Class and 5 series apparently too.

At the more reasonable end of the spectrum, the Fiesta ST - finally driven one and you can colour me impressed, it's nimble, agile, fast, usable and cheap - it's not quite an "old school" hot hatch, but it's a great car.

I want one, but my girlfriend wants one more! :P

+1, apart from supercar stuff the F type R is the first new car that I have actually wanted in a long time.

For me its the M135i, and also the GT86. I've decided these are the two cars I need to own.

GT86 needs FI of some sort though.

991 GT3; I don't like the fact that the 991 has got so much bigger but it seems they have improved on an already epic car.

I would say M135i for bringing such high performance in a practical package for so little but that would be biased. Plus they are probably more a 2012 thing.

And RR Sport for turning an utter turd of a truck into a cracking motor.

The Q5 RS is a minor miracle too; an RS that's fun, practical and not silly expensive. Audis annoy me immensely as they so often get it so wrong but I if like it when they make a good car.

For an inexpensive car you can get now the Fiesta ST is probably my first choice.
For more expensive cars the M235i and the Ford Mustang 2.3 are coming soon. I reckon both will be decent and hopefully the Mustang will cost a bit less than an M235i for similar performance. Maybe one day I could own one.
I really like the upcoming F Type coupe. I've fallen in love with it a bit but I'll never be able to own one.

Good to see so much love for the F-Type. It's a shame it (and the Fiesta ST) didn't get a shot at ECOTY. Didn't realise the F-Type R Coupe was out yet (prefer the looks of the coupe to the convertible) but just looked at it on the website. That would definitely be my car of the year (I am British after all)!

I think this might become my "one day" car (when it becomes a used car, can't afford the 85000+ pounds for a new one) in lieu of the 911 that I always promised myself. Bit bored with the 911 now despite never having driven or owned one! It seems the new GT3 was ECOTY despite them not liking it as much as the old one!
