Dinner party starter ideas
Discussion
We are going to a dinner party next week and have been tasked with providing the starter for 6 people.
Really want something that is not too difficult to make and preferably can be made in advance. We have a standard repetoir but I wanted to get some other ideas! Theme is likely to be Italian or French.

Beef carpaccio?
Roll the fillet in some salt, pepper and whatever herbs take your fancy before very quickly searing on all sides in a hot pan. Let it rest and cool completely before wrapping in cling film. Place in the fridge until you need it (it's easier to slice thinly when cold).
Serve it up with rocket/watercress, a basic vinaigrette and a few capers.
Really simple and can be prepped well in advance leaving only the slicing and plating.

This was repeated on TV the other night and I might give it a go myself.
Not much effort at all.
