Lymph nodes

My misses has a swollen lymph node on the back of her neck.
Been to the docs last week and they told her to come back after xmas if its still there for blood tests.

Should she be worried? she's stressing her self out to the max thinking the worst.

AIUI swollen lymph nodes just means they are working i.e. she has an infection and it is being fought. It is not a sign that there is something wrong with the lymph nodes.

The doc is just giving her body a chance to 'win'.

I had one recently in my arm pit, it was bloody sore but a bit of internet research said it was my body fighting something. Left it alone and it cleared up after a few days

She's had it little over 2 weeks she thinks!
Its pea sized and very hard and has no pain.

My dad had one removed from his neck last week for a biopsy, we found out today that it is cancerous. My dad is 69 and also has prostate cancer. It could be something and nothing, she shouldn't worry until she has had the results.

I had one recently, it was towards the back of my neck. Saw a doc who asked if I'd had any infections of late (I hadn't) and suggested I re-visit in 6 weeks.

4 weeks in I was becoming a little concerned; It was still there. By the 5th week however, it started to shrink and it was gone by the 6th week

Just be sensible and keep an eye on it, try not to agitate it however much your OH wants to feel if it's reduced in size.

Mine was a little less than pea sized and I could give it a good squeeze without pain (not recommended though according to Doc).

Single one for 2 weeks is probably nothing to worry about. I had a groinal one spotted Feb this year. Had it removed about 4 weeks ago. That was painless but very big 1.5 x 3cm never went up or down in size that much. Turned out to be lymphoma. Totally treatable so will be ok so it doesn't need to be the end of the world! Unless more appear or she's getting other symptoms like night sweats/fever or getting very tired I would tell her to enjoy her Christmas and don't worry about it!
