I have a 2001 bugeye wrx. Its got a full s/s sytem including decat, k&n kit. Ive been offered a sti intercooler. Is there any real benefits to fitting it over a wrx one

Not really. Not unless you've remapped your car which I'm assuming you have since you've changed the air flow so much.
