What are your thoughts on the clear lenses.

Rarely seen one that doesn't look better with them.
If you do buy, know there are two types of clear lights, grey and carbon.

I have had my DB9 Volante in Titanium Silver for two years, and think it looks better with the red lights rather than the clear, it's a complete contrast to the bodywork and the red improves the look of the rear end.

I will be keeping red rear lights.

I think the general consensus was that clear lights look better on darker cars with the reds remaining on lighter colours. (Not a fixed rule, just opinion based on previous discussions)

How odd. I was going to say exactly the opposite to this opinion. Clear lights on a dark car shout out "LOOK AT THESE! THEY'RE MY LIGHTS!" and the same for dark lights on a bright car. Whereas dark on dark and light on light tend to allow the shape of the bodywork to flow.

It's worth noting the general consensus is usually made up of those with a unique style of dressing too, so tastes will vary...

This was a hot topic on the AMOC forum.
General consensus was that if you wear red trousers then red rears are the way to go.

I am a little in between on this. I prefer the clear lights, but prefer them when they are actually switched on to give that red glow to the upper section.

Overall, I think the clear lenses suit any colour car, but the reds must not clash with the car colour. So red lamps on a blue, red or orange car would not be my personal choice.

If your car is a Volante (or Roadster in my case) it depends on the roof colour on a Titanium Silver car.
Red roof, Red calipers and Red lights
"Collar and Cuffs" matching me thinks

I have weighed up the options and was already leaning toward clear,

Guycords picture convinced me. Order placed, My wife is very kind to buy me such a gift for Christmas.

Question, I have read about a possible software update needed, is this required on a 2008 car, it's early 2008 with original style dash and 450bhp

When I enquired recently about the clear lights for my V8VR (MY 2008) the AM dealer contacted Gaydon and the software patch was set up for my car when I decide to get them installed.
It was just a case of going to an AM dealer and the patch would be installed.
As it happened I have put this final mod to my car on hold, but the software patch was required of a 2008 MY V8VR

Ah yes, that has become very popular now.

Always keep your foot on the brake pedal at traffic lights.

On a wet dark night at traffic lights, there is an even better way to annoy the driver behind. Keep your foot on the brake, engage reverse gear, and switch on the rear fog lights. -> laugh

I am for now sticking with the red lights, but look forward to seeing pictures of yours fitted with the clear lights, as your car appears to be exactly the same as mine, it will give me a true comparison .
