I've used Halfords wrinkle finish on an RS steering wheel. To be honest, I wasn't expecting great things and it could have been better conditions when sprayed.

But the end result is pretty good biggrin
It doesn't spray and coat in the wrinkle finish though, it does that as it dries which I found a tad unnerving tongue out

I've done quite a few rocker covers in the past and had good results following the advice on the can - it needs to be done (or at least left to dry) in quite a warm environment - e.g. ~20degrees to get a good tight wrinkle so the garage in winter isn't ideal.

After prep I usually do 3 coats (diagonal, horizontal and vertical, leaving time to dry between each), maybe a quick blast with a heat gun on low to kick start the reaction and then leave for 24 hours.

There's an example on my Fiat's rocker covers in this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

This is powder coat "wrinkle finish" but did use the DIY aerosol stuff many years ago on an MGB dash, worked ok and, as said, if any patches don't wrinkle too well a bit of heat helps. wink

As said by others if you follow the instructions does come out well but heat is the key to the quality of wrinkles!

Hi,

two weeks ago I painted my rocker covers with this stuff:

http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/wrinkleplus/

After spraying it on the covers I placed them (one fits) into the oven at 93°C for about 20 minutes. But be careful that your wife is not at home, it smells like hellbiggrin.
The wrinkle surface appeared after 10 minutes.
Unfortunately I can not take a picture because the engine is out for a rebuild.

Have a nice christmas and a happy new year!

Cheers

Bernd
