Key stuck in ingition - Mitsubishi Carisma

HELP! Over the last few days its been increasingly harder to get the key out of the ignition. Today it wont come out (well its has now after much wiggling) but I'm worried it wont come out at all after. It's not coming back the OFF position, stuck in ACC. The spare key is same and tried WD40 and brute force.

Any ideas what is involved please. I assume a replacement key and barrel will need coding £££'s just before xmas great! Any help will be fab, I need to get it sorted before Xmas.

It could be either key or barrel, or both. Hard to say really

Does the key look excessively worn ?

Most dealers etc supplying a new key should code it in for you. Or if badly stuck, stick the old key near the barrel so it can read any chip off the old one, and the new one does the mechanical work

If both keys are the same and not worn, it will be the barrel, they are now quite frequently a 2 minute job to change, a few cars ago I had an Omega & that was really quick to change the barrel once the plastic cowling was removed. A Corsa of a friends was the same.

Ive took the surround off and had a look but nothing will come out. More than likely make it worse and that means more expensive to fix. I'm going to call an Auto Locksmith.
