Hey guys,

I've undertaken the task of restoring the headlights on my chim.
Got the bowls back from being re-silvered, looking good and ready to go.

Problem is the rubber grommets have perished (rubbers that hold the adjuster screws onto the bowl itself).

Any ideas where I can get a replacement? Or some rubber / length of pipe I could cut to size etc?

Hoping B&Q might have something...

Malcster, how easy was it to separate the lens from the bowel, I'm thinking about doing mine so would appreciate the info?

I was hoping to leave the bowels in the wings so I don't lose the alignment, thought about chrome spraying them in situ.

It's pretty easy, the glass is just held in with sikaflex/tiger seal.
I dunno how good a finish you'd get with paint though really.

I'm going ot have to go through the pain of re-alsiigning once I find a replacement for the grommets.

My issue was in removing them, I found a lot of worn components - rusted springs, wingnuts etc. So now building a shopping list up.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, will have to have a go when I'm feeling brave....

The insides of the lenses are dirty anyway so a clean of them may help, a mate of mine did took his apart and cleaned them years ago and couldn't remember how hard the lenses and reflectors were to separate.

I hope your shopping list isn't to costly.

Maybe this could be the answer ,chroming is expensive .
It is a lot of money but it would cure the problem
