Just got home to find the old girl has let quite a bit of water in. Some nice little puddles down the sides of the seats. Need. More. Towels.

Can't help but think this somehow rotting something. Going to sit in a quiet corner and cry for a bit.

They must be. They don't look it but they must be. Obviously they're rivetted in at the hood as well to make it that much easier to change.

Think there's also some getting in through the doors... the door card clips are a bit knackered so there's a gap at the bottom, I reckon water is getting in past the inner brush seal and coming out at the bottom straight into the cabin.

Obviously I'm up north this weekend and working all next week. It better be bloody dry on Xmas day so I can spend the day with her.

I get the same problem after a heavy down pour. Check under your seats as well, the rain somehow manages to find a way under there in mine as well as the valley by the seat.

I have had five Wedges so far and every one of them have leaked in heavy rain, even though the seals looked good on all of them. I think it's something to do with where the side of the hood meets the door. When the hood is replaced they tend to make that section too short and the wrong shape and so instead of directing the rain water towards the exterior of the door it directed the water to the interior, and a puddle is soon collected on both sides. I was discussing this with someone at the BBWF who had a hood replaced with the correct type and shape, and thus avoiding this problem he had had for many years.

I have one, early mornings and late nights have meant no chance to wash her properly before sticking it in though.

No leaks here. Few things, are the flaps in place? These are bits of material that drop over the join where the roof hinges and direct water from the lid rain channel to the outside of the door seal.

The door seal, should they get water on the inside, need to get it to the outside as it tracks down between the door and the seal. THIS BIT I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR wink On mine I have two cut outs in the seal at the bottom front and rear. Any water tracks down and it has a way out rather than spilling into the car.

Next. The lid fabric needs a treatment. Water run off is very important, if it collects in the fabric it will just become a big sponge and leak in. I use Thompsons brick sealer, does fabric as well but stinks like heck for a short while. Apply it outside.

Edit.

Flap, just resting outside the car but normal between the door and the body.

Cut out

Of course, this may not cure it and there be another reason.......

I need new flaps! Also the hood on mine has been made such that the rubber seal doesn't go around the window glass which isn't helping.

The V8 doesn't leak for me but the V6 did..It has been noticed that if the roof stay hinges are weak or easy to close then that could add to the problem as the roof is not being pushed firm enough against joining areas..A washer under one or both points of fixing could help…Also check window position when raised against the door seal and fold of Targa panel side seams..I have to open the drivers door when closing the window or there is a gap at the lower front corner near the mirror…Ziga

I have seen a few cars where it is there but squished away, can I see the same here? I also do not know if this was the norm from TVR. My first wedge did not have them and I cured the water spilling in by cutting part the door seal but at your peril. (usual caveat, this is what I did, not saying it is right)

I did not cut the metal ribbing out, just the soft stuff and squished the gap in with some glue.

Edit. Looking at your picture, it would not be visible with the door closed, I just took a picture of mine outside the door to show it up. As the roof is dropped and raised, it can get crushed up, it might be there but it should site between the door and the door seal.

I've noticed a small amount of fresh air coming in through that corner on the motorway. I do usually close window with open doors but I may have forgotten to after my last drive. D'oh

It's there on one side but cracked right through. Tried conditioning the leather but no joy: it's finished. The other side has already cracked off.

Yes the flaps. Rubbers look OK. Need a few dry days to wash her, treat the hood, clean up and silicone the rubbers. And stick the cover on!

Think I need to try and figure out if there is enough give in the hood to bring the rubber seal back. i.e. try to fit the rubber seal that goes around the edge of the hood around the door window glass.

In terms of adding a flap, I seem to recall there being a small hole or two near the piping of the hood (but I might be wrong because i cant see it in the picture) where i can rivet in some new flaps.... Oh and obviously I'll need to make some new flaps.

Zig: the piping on mine has been made as a curve, presumably the person who made it new the flaps should be there, but in the few years since, those flaps haven't been treated and the door has been close on them multiple times folding them up. Eventually that's led to a huge crack forming across the leather making them extremely brittle and not very useful anymore! One of the flaps finally gave way a week or so ago, and the other just sits behind the door at the moment being useless.
