2009 BMW 120d M Sport
Discussion
Just got my son sorted out with this car.
He turns 20 on 6th Jan and wanted into a diesel car to replace his 2006 Civic 1.8 EX.
We'd have happily went wherever in the country to get the right car, when this one came up - owned by a friend of mine who i was best man for 20 years ago as it happens.
Seems to be quite highly spec'd - Sept 2009 120d M Sport 3 door, 18 inch alloys, black leather, heated seats, comfort pack (front and rear parking sensors, centre console, door handle lights), 6 speed, 177 BHP.
52K miles with FBMWSH and service pack until Sept 2014. MOT to Sept 2014, TAX to 31st March 2014.
Of interest it has the Alpine sound system upgrade retro fitted, which means upgraded front speakers, tweeters on the inside of the door mirror panels, amp in boot and a bass speaker under each seat.
The only other mod is the dechromed grills
Trade price on the car is around £8500, and retail price is probably around £12,000 at a dealers - judging by other similar cars. We got this one for £9,000 so well pleased.
All his own cash too.
These are just the pics from the advert. Getting it home next friday.

It will probably get a remap at some point which should take it to around 200BHP

I just got rid of a near identical one.
Bordering on being the best car I've owned. Reliable, nippy enough and fun.
I'd be tempted to get him some winter tyres, it's beyond shocking in the snow and ice. You can get stuck on a completely flat surface.
They slide nice too, even in 120d spec ;-) hopefully he doesn't get carried away with pressing and holding the DTC button.

The winter tyres might be a good idea. Bordering on being the best car I've owned. Reliable, nippy enough and fun.

Its a very nice car. We're well pleased with the spec too.

That looks lovely: nice spec. I had a 120d coupe which was a great all-rounder. The biggest negative was the terrible ride on MSport suspension and 18" run-flats though.
Yeah the ride isnt fantastic. But he lowered his civic and my wifes z4 is m sport spec on 19 inch runflats so we're used to a firm ride.

Didn't know they come with Alpine units.
Its a retrofit kit thats bought from BMW apparently. First i'd heard of it.crazy about cars said:
Your son is indeed a very lucky chap
Remap is a no brainer but best check with insurance first...
Yes he had £7000 in saving and has borrowed the other £2000 off my dad, so he has his head screwed on.
Remap is a no brainer but best check with insurance first...The remap would be a good job but you're right RE: insurance.
