So I have been looking at getting my engine changed out to a 4.7 and today the work finally began, allthe parts have been delivered, "H" section con rods, billet steel crank pistons, liners Gaskets the whole lot.

First thing to come out of the car was the gearbox which is FUBAR so is off to be rebuilt, followed by the engine and diff.

Now the big question is what colour to have the front and rocker covers?

Is the other big question to see if the chassis needs some TLC while the engine is out? Or have you done that already?

Chassis is OK for now, the outriggers will need doing but not for a few years yet.

I think I will do the fuel lines while the gearbox is out.

I like the TVR purple also thinking about Rosso Red to match the body work, where it has paint left on it;-). This subject needs more research.

Chrome? Like a yank engine? Lol. Glad you're keeping the AJP, in spirit of the Cerbera, not putting a LS in it.
Wish I could enlarge my 4.2, but I do love it's nature

What colour is your interior ? Is it anything you could carry through to engine bay ?

It is mostly black with red inserts.

I am thinking red at the moment.

Right, now we have the hoidays out of the way it is time to think about specifications again.

So far it has been decided to go for red engine covers and that is it.

One more thing is my airboxes are really quite ugly, the usual crushed throttle feeds and cracked around the mounting points.

So does any one have any expeience of the ACT Carbon air boxes, does any one know if they have trumpets inside to smooth the airflow into the engine and do they offer a power gain?

Or is there a better option someone can suggest?

Well at about 5 this evening my Cerbera rumbled into life for the first time in nearly 3 months.

She is now fully rebuilt as a 4.7 with billet steel crank, H section con rods, ported heads also skimmed by 30 thou, rebuilt oil and water pumps, green top injectors, new light weight flywheel, new clutch, new air box back plates, new air con condenser, gearbox with semi straight cut gears for strength without too much noise, rebuilt diff with all new bearings, all new valve timing chains and gears and loads of other bits.

Now I have to do a 1000 miles as soon as possible, it's tough but someone has to do it, then a remap by the 1st March when she gets her first outing at Snetterton on a track day.

I feel like I did when I was 8 on Christmas eve, I get to pick her up on Monday!!

I was there when you broke it.
I'll be there when you poke it (with a stick).

Running in is tough, cos you have to drive those miles properly, not just cruise at 70. Enjoy!

Jason at STR8SIX has done it, sounded brilliant, bag of spanners on first start up the mechanically quite quiet. Oil pressure was 80 on initial start up at tick over dropping to 65 at 95 cel with the fans on, I am sure that will drop back a bit after the 1st March.

QBee are you going to Snet on the 1st of March? It is organised by the BMWCC if you want to join us.
