Central Locking

As part of my list of 'poof pack' options, I aim to fit Remote Central Locking to the Can-Am.

I know that not all the locking systems will suit all locks (mainly Ford cable operated it seems).

Any suggestions as to the right kit to go for?

I know Clive and Steve_D have fitted them in the past?

Another thing to consider I guess, is whether it's more economical to just go for a simple remote c/l system, or fit an alarm with a remote locking activator and then just buy the motors etc.?

I have central locking on my car. Makes life a lot easier.

I bought the motors separately and then hooked them up to the alarm system. I paid over the odds for my motors but it seems you can get the same things from Maplin for a fiver each (code YD79L) for the 2-wire. I didn't bother hooking up the 5 wire system as it seemed like a waste of time. I'd only use the door key if my battery was flat.

It's a bit of a fiddly job getting the correct brackets and bellcranks and things to make sure the locking motors operate reliably. Well worth the effort though.

The alarm/imobiliser I have fitted has the locking output so it was simple to just fit the motors.
It took hours of fun!!! to finally form a bracket to mount the motor. My web site has pictures from all angles and should give sufficient info to make yours.
