Are you talking about the main engine earth?
If so then it goes from one of the adaptor plate bolts to the chassis earth point. The earth point on the is just below the front mount of the rear upper wishbone. It's on the left side of the chassis for LHD & on the right for RHD chassis.

The point I am refering too is directly in line with the back face of the engine. any further rearwards would be a long way away from the starter.

On that basis I can only assume we are still at cross purposes.

OK , but it must be a hole that needs to be drilled rather than existing, correct.

No, it is a hole already in a plate welded to the chassis.

In this picture you can see the end of the cable ready to bolt into place.
This is a left hand drive chassis.

I have a LHD chassis in my garage but my own car is at my business workshop.

I've just realised the bracket I showed in my photo is in fact the mounting point if using the rod gear shift. I will look at my chassis later when I get into work and find where I fitted my earth.

Steve

Hold that, just found this photo in the manual.
It shows you need to drill a suitable hole in the web on the top coilover mount point. You can see the nut on the inner face of the web.
Tip. When you have the hole you will need to clear away the paint to get a good contact. Use one of those flat blade drill bits for drilling wood. Use a smallish bit and just let the point rattle around in the hole clearing the paint off the face.

Rodger that thanks!

I'm amazed at how poor the build documents are, they seem to always have the wrong picture LHD vs RHD and they obviously don't update it often. There doesn't seem to be any revisions on anything either. IMO they should have this build dialed in on almost every aspect. Diagrams where to drill holes , size of holes, tips etc.......
