Assuming it's been stored correctly, top champagnes (inc. Dom) can last 25+ years.

Give it a go. But don't chill it too much.

Same as for all wines. Cool, dark place without fluctuations in temprature.

Edited to add - has your wife given birth yet? Surely no better time to crack open something special to celebrate?

Not yet! He's five days over due date now so we are on standby.

I'm no connoisseur with champagne so would rather keep it and open something else to celebrate.

How long have you had it? Where's it been stored to date?

Without wanting to put a downer on things, if it hasn't been looked after it might not be worth tucking away for the future.

It's been at my wife's grandmother's where there are various other good bottles. Some are stored in a pantry in a rack, others upright.

I'll ask her when I see her.

If it's not been stored correctly it probably will be YUK.... Sorry to be doom n gloom on this.

my Ex Boss was given a bottle like yours for the Millennium, which he kept upright in cupboard in his dinning room (despite me telling him to lay it down and keep the garage).... Grandson born, bottle opened.... YUK, and very disappointed.
