Taking delivery of a B8 RS4 in a few months and I am paranoid about it being nicked. Can anyone recommend a good tracking device I could fit?

Have you got any insurance quotes with and without a tracker yet? I got quotes for my Merc and it came up more expensive with a tracker! Also it was more expensive for me to be a member of IAM.

These quotes were from Brian the robot's comparison website.

unless the insurance is significantly cheaper with one I wouldnt bother, if the car gets stolen I dont know if I would want it back. also I would keep my keys for it near the front door, so if any basta*d car thief wants it he wont be coming up to my bedroom in the middle of the night looking for them. A better deturent might be motion detector floodlights and CCTV clearly on show.

What about one of those remote things that brings the car to a stop about a mile from where it's been stolen

Don't really understand why people put trackers in, surely you'd prefer for your stolen car to never been seen again and get a payout from the insurers rather than get your joyridden car back with a stolen recovered mark on it?

If you're really paranoid then park it away from your drive since a lot of thefts occur when thieves just break your window and steal the keys. Or mount a fake blinking CCTV camera.

I can understand it for irreplaceable cars, i.e. highly modded or extremely rare, but something you get off the production line I don't see the point!

If you're not to concerned about it coming back if its' nicked, then put a hand grenade under the drivers seat.

To be honest I would go through any amount of pain and anguish to get the car back if it improved the chances of the scumbag who stole it getting caught. Punishments are not sever enough for this crime, it has become an acceptable way of life nowadays.

Full report when you get it please!! A friend just got a new 1M and couldn't get insurance without a tracker. I'd put 2 on it, CCTV where it's parked and a Rottweiler for the back seat.

Sepang Blue. Ordered it from Bolton Audi, the guy there was very helpful unlike the Aberdeen dealership where I live. Not just Audi mind you, Mercedes dealership was the same. I ordered it at end of November and and will not get it until mid March..... seems like a life time away.

Sports exhaust, privacy glass, heated seats, had the key less entry until I saw a youtube clip of one being nicked.

I've often thought a home made immobiliser a good idea, like a secret switch hidden somewhere for the fuel pump for example. Don't know how practical though with modern looms and warranty conditions.

I don't get the ' here are the keys at my front door, nick my £60k car, p.s come back in a few months time for the new one the insurance company has paid for' . I would want my car back in any condition so the scumbags didn't profit from it.

Agree. Not sure if I'd want it back but to see a gang of pro high end locked would be great!

Also, if you had a scumbag steal your car and they recover it, would you want it back?
You would have no idea what they could have done to the car....

I agree, I'd sooner not have it returned if my car was stolen, but each to their own. I must agree with the OP's comment on Aberdeen Audi, I'd say any Aberdeen dealer is going to be just as bad thats why I went to Edinburgh for my car....
