Have these been finished? The signs said we'd be having them til February which was doing my head in as westbound they've caused chaos. They did appear to be being worked on at a fearsome rate so have they just pulled their fingers out and got them done, or just removed them for Christmas (can't see it - surely the traffic is lighter).

It's in marked contrast to the glacial speed that they worked on the managed motorway changes.

As far as I can tell there done! I wondered if the obviously increased workrate had anything to do with the amount of grief they got over the rest of the works? Fair play to them though, they've been working all hours, and proper work too, can't recall seeing anyone just standing about leaning on a spade!
All that said, it's been closed twice since it all reopened Friday due to serious accidents that have damaged the new central reservation, think 2 lanes are closed eastbound while they repair it

They were cracking on at a hell of a rate, I thought, all night long under floodlamps, with a great big queue of dumper trucks on the go. I was quite impressed. Those roadworks were causing westbound chaos, so I suspect they decided to pull out all the stops. It was an almost perfect traffic jam scenario, speed limit, loss of a lane, narrow lanes and a fking big hill about 5 miles(?) long. I'm astonished at the low number of accidents in it too.

They had all the old barrier chopped up and removed in about 2 days! Someone must have been on for hell of a Xmas bonus.

As far as i have seen they have finished but did also confuse me after the feb finish sign, i think they have pulled out the stops as westbound it was dangerous at best with the tight lanes and the confusion around where the lanes where marked due to not removing the original lines properly.

Most of the work, the prep, takes time and you dont appear to get a deal for the time spent. The coated stone surfacing appears to be 'most of the work' but in reality its the final part and it can be laid scores of metres at a time and only take two or three days (for sub-base, base and wearing courses)!

Have to agree, as frustrating as it was for new roadworks to appear just as the 2 year long hike finishes I was also impressed at the rate of knotts those fellows seemed to be working. Every day there was an obvious difference - great stuff.

Glad it's all done now though! They just need to fix the mess that is the m60/m62 junctions now - forever queuing around there. Bring on more managed motorways!!

No managed motorway treatment will fix that problem. The only thing that will fix that is to close the access from J13 at Worsley.

Is that the bit that is always hugely congested? I was sat in that a few weeks ago and was watching the traffic lights on the slip road. The went from red to green and the IMMEDIATELY back to red again. Was quite funny - if you weren't on the ball with the accellerator, you weren't going anywhere.

Hopefully they will be looking at the problem. I know managed motorways are being considered over that neck of the woods, but dunno how far down they will be coming.
