Ok, so just looked at the spec sheet for the V12V and it offers a claimed combined fuel economy of 14.3mpg; is that actually true!?

I had no idea it was quite so bad, but this comes from http://www.astonmartin.com/en/cars/the-vantage-ran...

Worst thread title ever!

You of all people Tim, Mr Supercar himself, caring about fuel economy?!

You've changed!

It's for my Father, he's stingy!

The claiming of 14, suggests a real world about 8-9, and that sounds ridiculous.

If you have finished wrapping your Christmas presents, could try 'getting out more'.

To answer your question. Who cares anyway.

I last filled the tank in October. Quite good fuel economy really (if you do need to know). -> smile

I get about 11mpg out of mine, maybe a bit more when I take it for a long trip on the motorway.

I haven't started wrapping, don't be silly! I've just returned from JCT 600 though.

In this instance my father cares, and in the list of V12V vs Cayman S, it's a factor!

Suggest that a Skoda would be ideal. They are very popular with stingy folk, who won't pay that little bit extra for a Volkswagen. I'm told they do 65 mpg too.

Tim,
I have a suggestion. Tell your Dad to buy a V8 then take it to BR who can convert it to 5 ltr thereby giving it more power and torque than the V12 with the added bonus of much improved fuel consumption . Ask Mikey, I understand 30mpg is on the cards. wink

How about that for a seasonal cat amongst the pigeons statement. biggrin

On this forum it would be NO CONTEST. smile

Aston Martin - Rare and understated style.
vs
Porsche - Too many on the roads now, even to be special.

And a 6.0 litre v12 is supposed to be sensible???, thats not a lot worse than an out of tune Capri 3.0 driven by an idiot

my average varies between 12 & 14. But on a hard's day driving where you aren't just doing long distances (say a day in the alps or in North wales) easily dips to single figures

Still not a V12 though.

My average is around 15-17 depending on the driving mix, on long runs with the cruise control set to ~80 it would hit >21mpg.

But seriously, it's a 5.9L V12 sport car, good fuel economy probably shouldn't be high on the expectation list!

Sounds about right to me. I have emptied a full tank in 75 miles on a track and covered over 300 miles on a cruise up the motorway. I averaged 14MPG over 2 years.

It's a 6.0 litre, V12, 510bhp Aston Martin.

If you're concerned about MPG, may I respectfully suggest this is not the car for you?

If MPG worries you that much, get a V8, its a better, more exclusive, more efficient engine, just as fast in the right hands, and V8's rule...ok?
