Why a vain hope? You talking about finding somewhere to stay, or somewhere cheap?

I have a hotel in Le Mans I will not be using, on the tram line, never stayed there before but looked ok, I can't resist camping lol think it is £150 for wed-Monday as I booked before race dates announced. Pm if that would help.

Try looking at accommodation in Alencon. Look at various travel sights or the various recommended tour operators

If you don't mind a short trip to the circuit, I have stayed at www.lemansholidays.com

3 x gites near village of la grand Luce.

I know the owners have done some dubious advertising here before, but I have stayed there in 2012. Owners were nice as was the accommodation. Drive straight to circuit from the east. Use an internal car park at the circuit and the route in and out is easy.

No idea if they are booked up.

We are staying here for the second year. Good hotel, big rooms, good welcome, great food and an easy 30 minute (less if you are brave) drive into the circuit via Arnage.
Last year they had a few LM people there and opened the reastaurant on the Sunday night too which was very nice of them. I think you will still get a room there if you are quick.

Depends how many you are. Might know of B&B locally if that might help.

Yes, I've had people asking me for the same accommodation I booked six years back for the Classic, directly opposite the back entrance of the Bugatti near Houx. Few people know there is a hotel there. I booked 24 rooms within walking distance of the pits for them all and got hardly a word of thanks. Suddenly eight years later they want the same thing. Tough. But there are B&B's to be had round about here though and not dear.

I am pleased with my booking price wise with food breakfast, two course dinner £245 each lunch will be when we are out.
However it will be my first time camping at this site, and not on track but still near to the action.
Will save other comments after the event.

Woohoo!!

I got let down by the usual hotel this year. But did some extensive searching and emailing.

Ended up in the same village which is what I really wanted in a place halfway between a hotel/b&b. On every search this place was shown as full. But email from owner confirming two rooms.

Anyway, the message being if you are still looking for something that isn't camping then don't give up.
