I've heard a rumour that the fuel in supermarket petrol stations is cheaper due to the lack of additives in it. Any truth to this?
It all meets the relevant standards. It all comes from the same refineries and the same distribution depots.
The only difference is the small pot of additive which is added when the tanker's loaded.

Tesco have their own refinery at the Rugby distribution hub and own a couple of oil rigs off the Shetland Islands. Their petrol is a bit cheaper than Shell because they only employ East European labour but don't even pay minimum wage. It all comes from the same refineries and the same distribution depots.

Agreed that RON wise 95 is 95 no matter where it's from etc, but with additives as in cleaning and lubricating as said above, supermarkets meet the British Standard, companies like Shell BP Esso and co beat the requirements significantly. I use shell as in my mind the engine will have been kept clean and the fuel pump lubricated etc as the miles build and I plan on keeping a fair while.

Thank you for your conspiracy theory. It has been assigned all relevant credibility. But, no, I'll humour you. What are these Tesco oil rigs called?
