I think that'll be me, now that BattyS4C has sold up and gone with an FTO. Got the S a couple of months after I turned 22, last year. Getting itchy feet now, want a V8, but the bank says I can't even afford petrol.

Probably should have checked this before I bought those alloy roof stays. Don't worry Colin I'm using money from my S fund. Its the main one that is looking less than plentiful.

Dont worry wildfire, you'll have money enough to buy something very special in the future

When I was your age, I couldnt afford a car of any kind

Its none of my business, but wouldnt selling 3 of your 4 cars buy you a V8S?

Got my lovely S3 when I was 21 but have now turned 22. Thanks do have to go to the helpful graduate advisor at Natwest who arranged the loan to afford aforementioned car and insurance thereof!

Argh!! I lost out!! But on the other hand I did buy mine out right, no loan. Took a lot of saving. Rob if I sold all my cars at the right time they would net me a Cerbie. But I can't get rid of the Cooper S, it belonged to a friend of my father, and they both had their Cooper Ss at the same time in the 70's. I was trying to sell the mini and then the S and go for somthing different but the mini is just too much fun to drive!

Ah but that doesn't count. That was way back in the mists of time. Did they have colour then? I would have been around 7 or so then.

Lost out too. I was 23 when I bought my S3. Although like Chris, mine was bought outright (although it was with a bonus rather than hard savings

I did spunk about £19k on finance on an MGF when I was 20...

lots of young TVR drivers in England then.. I'm 28 got the S at 27.. Must say that most of the dutch TVR clubmembers are a bunch of old goats who put their TVR's in the garage at the end of the summer and then talk their way through the winter...(no offence, but IMO true)

But that's why this forum is great and you have nice S-meetings all the time.

Must come to England someday....

cheers

I was only 17 when I first saw a 350i wedge and I really wanted one of those, or an Excel but both became dated (less so the Excel) and I didn't really look to acquiring a Tiv much until the Chimera was born circa 1995 and then a few years later I spotted the S and I'd never seen one before but knew it was a car with good pedigree and looks of a real and timeless sports car. Finally bought the S in 2002 for cash. As much as I love the car, I wish it was a bit more useable for me on a daily basis (speed humps everywhere I go) and had PAS and less thirst.

I guess this makes it more fun when I do use it but I'm always a bit uneasy in that it spends about 80% of the year sat in the garage at home undriven. I've only covered around 3k miles in 2.5 years!

Niels

I am regularly in Venray on business (so you can guess who my employer is) and keep thinking that one day I may take the V8S instead of the Eurobox, if I ever manage it I'll drop you a line. We can have a Hoon among the Dykes!

Hey!

That would be grate. I live in Nijmegen (about half an hour from Venray on the A73).

If you ever manage to take the S along, send me a message! I'd be happy to meet a fellow S-owner.

cheers

Ps. can't figure out which company you mean...
