Any Slingbox experts?
Discussion
I work on a 3 month 1 month rotation out in Afghan and want to keep up with UK TV when im out there. Looking at Slingbox but I need a wifi version with built in Freeview. I have Sky but I think the missus will be pissed off me changing over the channel 3000miles away in the middle of Eastenders! Which Slingbox would be my best bet?
cheers in advance.

A Slingbox only reproduces a signal as sent from your Sky + box, DVD player etc and transfers it onto the web. The box itself does not have a built in tuner. The only options you have are .....either hook it upto a Sky multi room box meaning you can watch whatever whenever or hope that your significant other watches certain programmes via Freeview and not always Sky. Otherwise hook it upto a Hard Drive and watch pre recorded stuff and with the time difference this should not cause too much of a difficulty. You will be +4.5 hrs ahead of UK time I assume.
The only box that sends a true 1080P HD signal is the new Slingbox 350. They are great so long as the broadband speed at both ends is really fast.

This has Freesat built into a Slingbox so just add a dual head LNB to your dish, pull a bit of coax and the job's Daniel.

You have Sky?
So use sky go and a proxy site

http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sky-go/
Or is that not an option.

Cheers for advice so far. I get 1mb in Afghan as my company pay for decent internet for me. I use HMA as a VPN at moment when im out there but it can be a bit hit and miss. Not bothered about getting HD streamed through to me as depending on time of day (1800-2200) the net does slow down a bit.
Ive just down loaded the FilmOn App yesterday and if that does what it does here in UK then ill stick with that.
