Just watching some $500 car road trips and I am wondering if they have MOT's over there as the cars look illegal not just rough.

So jealous of some of the fun looking road trips!

I believe they have 'inspections'. Google might be your friend here.

Goes state by state, some have emissions inspections only and some have safety inspections such as NewYork, North Carolina to name a couple. As stated earlier google would have the best answers.

Depends on the state...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_inspection_in...

Full safety inspection every year in Texas, not even an emissions test where I lived in Indiana.

In Canada, the only time you have to get a vehicle properly checked over its for its vehicle emmisions test which is only necessary if you live in a city, or if you sell the car to someone in a diferent province, or if the police look at your car and decide it needs to be checked out.

Which is why, if you guy to any ski resort in Canada packed to the rafters with broke travellers and Australians, you will find cars that should have been scrapped 40 years ago, somehow still plodding along, prolonging their painful and miserable experience only buy the most absolutely necessary repairs.

I quite often visit South Carolina. According to wiki, there are no inspections in SC at all.

This kind of makes sense, as when travelling down the interstate there are numerous bits of shredded tyres and also the state of some of the vehicles is scary. (I have seen thread bare tyres on a couple of motors, smashed lights, cracked windscreens). Not sure what the local BiB can do about it though?

No test in Alberta, however if you get pulled and the police find anything wrong you will get a ticket for it.

100% agree.

The whole motortrend channel, just lives off what they do.
Just have to look at the view numbers.
That pickup is well over a million now, I just listen to that thing, then hit the classifieds to see how I can make something similar.

I hope they do make it to the uk. smile
