Hello peeps

The boot release button has sunk into the dash on my Griff a little and also seems to be stuck on now.

I'd rather not remove the dash to sort it of course; assuming the button itself is still ok, will I be able to get to it and re-attach it through the head unit hole? Does anyone have a photo of the back of a dash panel showing how they're attached please?

Many thanks (and Happy Christmas all!)

There's a pic here:

The buttons usually drop through the dash because the mounting bracket has become detached from the rear of the dash. So it's dash out to do the job properly.

Sadly the stud breaks off the back of the panel.
Sorry to give you bad news on Christmas day but at least its a cheap job if you do it yourself. Best Wishes

Great, thanks guys!

Looks like it's a dash out job then; at least I'll be able to tidy up some other stuff in there when it's out.

Try a very light spray of WD first. May release button and keep you going awhile. Nothing to loose. If button has lost it's fix in dash then it's dash off.

Only managed to get round to looking at the car again today, but found that if I open the glove box I can actually reach my hand in and get to the back of the upper 2 buttons quite easily. Makes a change! The RH stud has indeed become detached from the back of the dash. Anyway, the bracket was still fairly strong, so I managed to push the button back into place and it still works fine. I just need to remember not to press it too hard. It'll keep me going anyway, so the dash out job can wait until it falls off completely. smile

Thanks
