Hi does anyone know any insurers that will insure me on an audi s3 as a named driver at 20, turning 21 soon. I will have my own car to commute to uni, so im not fronting. Most insurers are asking for 3k with a 3k excess on confused.com. So im hoping there are other insurers who someone could recommend. I dont want to take out 2 policies in my name, going to cost too much

thank you.

BTW This is the car: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-S3-Hatchback-Quattr...

If it's your car, you are buying it and paying for the insurance and using it for the next 9 months and weekends after that, then I think that would be considered fronting. confused

Admiral/Elephant will do it for about £1500.

Bend the truth as much as possible for the cheapest job role, add two additional drivers 40+yrs old with clean driving history, park on the street and cover 4995 miles p.a.

If you want specific help finding a decent quote drop me a PM.

Good luck!

Change the date to a month in advance this can be a biggy on cost. Admiral and others then let you take it out at anytime.

lol my mum said its going to be her car. she insists on putting it in her name. She going to pay for the car, insurance etc. Its not my fault :P. But on a serious note I will hardly be using it.

Why is parking on a street cheaper than in a garage?

I'll take that as a no. Why when I put it in my name they want 4k :S. Ive found a quote through bell in my name for £2.4k. If I ring Bell you reckon they might bring it down to £2k

Insurance is weird :s

No idea mate. For me it brings down the price from 3.5k to 2.4k from garage to on the street. But I know that its more likely to get stolen or hit on the road than in my garage. Because If I park it in my garage another vehicle will be parked infront so stealing it is going to be a long process.

7k for a mk1 s3?!?!?

Surely you can get a mk2 all be it a high millage for that!

Blimey even a Leon cupra and a remap is less than 2k

Ha! Been there at your age. "We cannot insure your car due to high performance", etc.

I did bend the truth a fair bit and got it down to about a grand but that's based on living in Scotland which is probably a bit cheaper than most English postcodes. Best of luck and merry Xmas!

Not sure, I have about 5 guess' but they'd only be speculation. Road is cheaper about 95% of the time in my experience.

Must admit that is my thought too, seems to be way overpriced.

You could get a 2007 Focus ST, GTI, VXR for that money, probably quicker and more modern inside, not to mention cheaper parts.

Can't cancel within the 14day cooling off period if paid 30days in advance? I'd assume this is worth quite a lot to an insurance company.

People who buy insurance early are more prepared and generally more careful?

All guesses, but ultimately people who buy insurance in advance claim less.

the cooling off period would only start from the day your insurance starts.

I guess its cheaper as if you try to insure it the day or day before its due then they see you as desperate to get it insured, whereas if you search for quotes a month beforehand you are obviously going to shop around, hence a really competitive quote may stop you from doing so.
