Does anyone know this cerb
Discussion
Hi folks,
I'm brand new here and looking for some cerb advice. I've been looking at this for a while and wondered if any of you might know something about the car.
Thanks in advance

I'd ask:
Has it had a clutch recently and how old is the slave cylinder?
What shocks and springs is it on, how old are they and who set it up?
When did it last have a 12k service and ideally what thickness of shims are in the inlet valves?
What tyres are on it and what age are they?
How many miles has it done in the past 12 months?
James Agger is a good guy though. He generally doesn't sell rubbish.
Welcome, by the way!

Thanks guys. How nice it is to have quick and sensible responses! I've seen James Agger mentioned across the forum so that is reassuring. Ill give him a call tomorrow or day after and take your advice. Ill keep you posted.
So, are cerberas as fun as I imagine they are. I have an xjr ATM which is super quick and refined but always wanted a tvr since I drove a griff 500 10 years ago. Mind blowing power which I can still feel to this day and still have ringing in my ears! Never drove a cerb but always preferred the look and now is the time to get one to go with my jag.

Serial Jag owner here too
It's difficult to imagine a greater contrast to your XJR than a Cerbera. They're also nothing like a Griffith really either. The Griffith is very much a classical sports car, whereas the Cerbera is fairly mental/brutal. Unless you drive formula cars or ride sports bikes, a Cerbera in good working order is one of those cars which will recalibrate your idea of "fast".
If it doesn't excite you then you're in the wrong game! They are a bit more stable than the Griff and Chim thanks mostly to the slightly longer wheelbase, but obviously can still bite hard if you don't show it enough respect.
The engine choices are all good too. None are anything like the Rover V8. The Speed Six which can in later sounds great as straight sixes do, and is explosive in the upper rev range. The AJP8 engine has a fairly unique sound which is fairly addictive and has fairly linear power delivery from 1500rpm right up to 7500rpm.
They are absolutely wonderful cars, in my completely bias opinion

Sounds good mate. I take it you have experience driving both the sp6 and ajp? What do you prefer? Also is there much difference between 4.2 and 4.5? I'm guessing the promoted 440bhp for the 4.5 is ambitious at best!
I haven't driven a Speed Six myself but been a passenger. It's a great engine. I'd happily own one. I went for the V8 myself as that engine is also rather special and in addition unique to the Cerbera.I haven't driven a 4.2 either, although they're much of a muchness on power out of the box. 4.2s produce much closer to their claimed outputs than 4.5s do as standard, so there's nothing in them really. They do sound a little different, and there are a handful of people who can get the 4.5s up to fairly close to their claimed outputs with short induction and a bespoke remap.
I've never been in a Red Rose. They have 3-angle valve seats and higher compression ratios. Some owners here have struggled with starter motors and have had to upgrade. The standard starters seem to suffer cranking a Red Rose when hot. The octane button is a waste of time IMO though - just get an "ordinary" 4.5 remapped for V-Power and be done with it

The 4.2 had a plate diff as standard and Hydratrak as an option. Speed Sixes and 4.5s got Hydratraks as standard. Some don't like them, but to be honest I think the Hydratrak works fine on the road.
Well I've had very detailed answers here I'm very impressed. I will keep researching the car and if it is still for sale will go and have a look. I'm sure owning one of these is a challenge in itself but I get the feeling it will be worth it. Even its just to wipe the smile off my mate's face in his E63 that is "the fastest car on the road". Pah! Well see about that ay!

I have been very lucky to have owned all 3 engined cars Chimaera 400
Cerb 4.2 still have it
Tuscan red rose
All great fun and are similar as they all feel unique only like a Tvr can.
I love my cerb as it is much fun to drive, out the 3 It drives best, believe it or not the smoothest of the 3 day to day use. The longer chassis allows it to handle poor roads well.
The tuscan was 100% animal rolling road print for around 400bhp it is faster than my 4.2 by a little but it really want you to ring its neck and drive hard, then it really sings and can seriously shift.
The cerb is similar but the lower torque means you can pop and bang away at 40mph and grin like a loon. Not as smooth mid range as a sp6 in factory spec, mine is due a re map this year.
I would say a ajp is a engine between a rv8 and the sp6 in terms of character not the smoothest but lower down torque like rv8.
Get some test drives done they are all great engines so I would go for the best cerb you can condition wise that has had thousands spent on it and been loved.

From my limited knowledge of the community, I'd avoid based on the sellers less than stellar reputation. Mark
