New TV set up ideas before the sales finish!
Discussion
We have just moved and I am contemplating buying a new TV set up for our lounge this week to take advantage of prices in the sales.
We have Sky HD and i love the golf and football on it so picture quality and sound are important.
We currently have a 40 " LCD Samsung which I am happy with but like all the thinner TV's the sound quality now is poor in my opinion. when I bought this two years ago I bought a QTV2 system here for £300 and I have been really pleased http://www.qacoustic...u-tv.htm?mobile.
I have sonos in the lounge too for music audio but am no techie!! We will move the 40" one to our room and retain the qtv system as only fits up to 42" tv
The new lounge is quite big and the TV is not very big anymore. I am looking at a 50-60 inch TV and there are some up to £500 in the sales, mostly plasma but some led's also.
I am not wanting to spend too much but am thinking a £500 TV and £150 sound bar of some sort (would get the QTV again but don't want to spend £330 on another one. The sound bar options seem good and I assume they all work on a separate remote for the sound or can you programme you sky controller?
Anyway, any thoughts would be good. plasma or led? sound bar or something different.
would sonos work???
Ideas would be great. May go to currys to take a look in the morning but may impulse buy but I usually do some research first.
Help chaps please
These are the three I have seen

Links don't work...
Anyway, if picture is important then I suggest you look at an older Plasma model. £500 is a very small budget for a decent, large telly and you note 60" - not sure how you'll find anything that meets that budget that would be considered 'very good' so suggest you take a trip to a store - 'good' is a subjective thing and you'll need to see for yourself. Ask for a demo with standard def content. The cheaper sets struggle with this.

I have decided against plasma for the same reasons as last time, watching sky news, sky sports and my 6 year old leaving it pause is asking for screen burn.
WIth a sound bar attached I think something like this would be good. I don't need any bigger than this so will take a look and see how it compares to my current set up.
Thanks for the reply

I am debating this very issue - updating our 32 inch tv as we now have a much larger room.
The question I have is, do I need smart TV - we have virgin TV so dont need catch up, iplayer etc, and cant see my self browsing ph on the telly. I am not that bothered by 3d either.
Whats the story with sound - do I need to budget for a sound bar? Currently I have a set of jbl creatures on my airport express network which serve as "hi fi" can I feed the tv into these or would a specific tv option be best (I am guessing bespoke would be better - but worth the cash?)
