Hi all

Got a gopro black edition for Xmas (Yay!) and I was wondering how people have mounted them in their nobs

What are my options?!

Great news Julian , great bit of kit , if you want too use it on track be careful of the suction mounts most of the track day organisers do not like them , roll bars clamps seem to work well .

Suction cups are a no for track they need to be fixed like what tux just said. Roll cage mount would be best. I have the go pro 3 white and that's plenty good enough for track days. You can even down load an app on your phone to control it rather than having to buy a remote.

I have the go pro and suction cap... It's good but I have had it come off before so Alwasys back it up with a strong leash.
I had mine on the side window on my lemans trip, it made for an interesting perspective and soundtrack :-)

I haven't got the black edition, but i do have the earlier generation. I have used the camera both externally on the roof of the car, and internally on the rear window using the suction cup. Don't expect fabulous sound quality externally if you are travelling at any high speed (perhaps the black edition is better??), but the suction cup did stay put at circa 140mph...perhaps i was lucky!

For your reference here is an external clip.

There is an internal video on the youtube side bar also if that's of some help smile

I've used the suction mount at a few track days, stuck to the back of the passenger's bucket seat. The marshalls insisted I taped across the base of the mount as well, but apart from that they were fine with it.

Just bought a roll cage mount as the passenger seat will be coming out for next season. Now trying to figure out how to mount the thing! I want to get a decent view forward, including part of the driver and dash, and be able to get the camera in and out!

I've not done a trackday yet where they've allowed suction mounts.
I have mine mounted either on the middle of the dash or on top of the interior light between the seats for a cabin view. Tried the gopro roll bar mount but couldn't get it to fit in the noble

i also looked at the rollbar mount but thought it might be too big for the Noble.

Going to experiment with one of the adhesive clips stuck to the windscreen around the rear view mirror. Car is in storage so cant try it until spring though!

Use the sticky mount on the front splitter and under the rear wing, job done!

Really enjoy watching other people's videos - Deano, have found yours from Coombe over the years and always enjoyed them as have experienced from the passenger seat!

But, there are soooo many track videos. And I'm beginning to wonder how interesting viewing a track you know well over a drivers shoulder where your line of sight is crap actually is, in comparison with actually being in the driving seat.

Bit like watching other people's iphone videos of a concert / gig / fireworks display. Except whatever tosser took the video in this case didn't even get to enjoy the concert live / in real 3D / HD with their own eyes! Just don't get it.

Anyway, track day vids are a world apart from that last rant, but what may make more interesting viewing is following / being followed by someone you know.

My brother has a gopro black, and his Evo is so rapid he's not far off my Noble's pace. So the video becomes fun as I get to see myself driving the track from behind and watching him work hard to keep up.

All of this is a view of course and in reality hasn't even happened yet! His car breaks down or we don't make the same trackday! Ha ha

Interesting / dull story or opinion and not helpful on the subject of mounting points I accept.

Yeah i see your point Lawrence

For me, itll be more of a learning aid rather than putting it online for other people!

I too have a hero 3 black with remote and app. A few things from my experience.

Don't buy a cheap suction cup from eBay!

The app is great at letting you position the shot but it's not always been reliable connection wise there have been times it wouldn't connect when I needed it.

Always mount it with a solid frame if reference in shot .i.e a part of the car in shot.

I have a car photo rig I'm into car photography and I have used my industrial vacuum suckers on windows which are very strong. Enough to hold an slr externally.

Good luck
