Anyone seen the deals currently being advertised by DTD on Jags?
I'm no stranger to expecting a silly deal on a new car but the discounts are so huge that even I wondered if they're really attainable! They're all supposed to be main dealer supplied too so given we have at least a couple of people who work for dealers on here, be good to know if this us representative of what really achievable.
How about new XKRs at £49k, XKR-S at £64k and even 10% off F-Types (even the new R Coupe!).
Having sold my 4 month old XKR-S in January because I had the opportunity to get hold of an SLS very cheap, I've now moved on from that and now have a new M6. However, the Jag was the most fun of the lot so I'm keen to get back into one - at some of these prices, it's almost a no-brainer!

I remember enquiring about a new XJ a few months ago. Main dealer told me I could have 20% off list without even trying, and there was more to be had after that depending on options, group stock etc. This was cash + PX, no finance, for a brand new unregistered car with delivery miles only.
They were very keen to do a deal. I decided against it but it was mighty tempting, especially the LWB
You can get similar sized discounts on a BMW 7 series, but after my last experience at a BMW dealer I will not be troubling them for a while yet

interior colour choices are now more limited though.
Are they? Looking at the brochure there appears to be the same variations as before. Also when I got my XKR in the summer the dealer mentioned that a personalisation programme was being introduced. Therefore the choices should increase.I wanted caramel seats and facia but this hasn't been available on the XKR since 2010. So with the personalisation programme this may now be possible.
I have long thought the list prices of most new cars are very high, Jag particularly so, therefore I'm not really surprised to see these discounts. I can't help wondering if Jaguar knew they were really taking the mick with prices all along. Sure, they'll get the odd mug that pays list but they expect to heavily discount on most sales. Punter thinks they are getting a great deal and Jaguar are doing well, so a good result all round.
All these deals look very tempting.....still mulling over an F-type at the moment....
Ashley1111........if you come across any interesting F-type deals in the new year please let me know.....would consider most spec options...only deal breaker regarding spec would need to be V6S/V8 and active exhaust.
cheers stv

Thanks for the information.....will watch what happens in the new year...as you said Jaguar are changing the underwriters....you will be my first port of call if i decide to go ahead with the F-type...i have a few specific requirements but i can "pm" them to you if i decide to go ahead...but the figures regarding a stock car certainly don't look too far away !

Thanks for the info Ashley, I thought you'd have a thing or two to say about this! Totally understand your point about DTD and whilst I have no experience of dealing with them, they do claim to have dealer(s) to honour those deals? Regardless, it gives an indication on where the market is - one may have thought £20k discount on an XKR-S would be a good deal before seeing those prices! What dealer are you based at Ashley?
Interesting about the change of underwriters as the finance deals seem to be where Jaguar are currently lagging behind some of the German brands (where you're looking at finance rates in the 3-4%'s or even 0% in the case of the big M's). It seems that £70k+ volume brands need very cheap (or free) finance to be competitive these days.
I'm pretty confident that I'll be back in a Jag for my next car as whilst the M6 is an incredible piece of kit (and ultra-modern in its use of technology), it's almost too good in that you're going so fast before getting even the slightest sensation - it's just too detached and I do miss the sound and feel of my XKR-S. I was even tempted to buy back my 2012 XKR-S which is now for sale again at one of the north east Jag dealers for £63k, but I think I'll now wait for the F-Type R so will be watching how F-Type prices perform over the coming weeks/months. With my desired spec a touch over £100k, it would be suicide without at least £12-15k off given it'll be down to mid-£60's in a year - I can't imagine such discounts will be available from launch but looking at the convertible, it shouldn't be long after!
I managed £22k discount and 0% on my M6 (so total value of around £35k when you factor in the free finance) - whilst similar is achievable on the XKR-S now, I'd expect the F-Types marginally better (but still horrific!) residuals will counter the lower initial discount.

Completely agree with your comments regarding the finance deals....I definitely think Mercedes and Bmw have jumped to the front of the queue regarding there finance rates and dealer contrubutions and other marques will need to start to match these deals or be left behind. The deal you got on the M6 being a prime example......that was a stonking deal.......
Hopefully the change of underwriters at Jaguar, will see some good deals available in the new year......very tempted by a F-Type myself.....regarding the M6 possibly being too fast and too good at what it does......do you think the F Type R maybe the same scenario?
cheers stv
ps Ashley1111.....I pm'd some additional info to you

Got your PM, have emailed myself the details and will forward them to you when I get home.
Thanks Ashley, do let us know which side of the net the finance ball falls on after 2nd! I had a feeling you were LPR - do you have a colleague who regularly posts on the RRS forum too?
Regarding whether the F-Type will be similarly too fast / too good like the M6, I highly doubt it. My XKR-S was ultimately a lot less capable than the M6 in all objective measures, but the Jag was more fun. The Jag's lack of perfection and engineering to the n'th degree worked in its favour here.
The BMW is a great car and hugely misunderstood / underrated - as a GT, it's better than anything else I've experienced at any price and it seems BMW have engineered-out every single possible complaint of the previous generation M6. It even looks great (different enough from a standard 6 series to look a bit special) and the individual interior of mine is a tremendous place to spend time. I know when I finally change I'll miss the technology, build quality, refinement and the phenomenal drivetrain - the effectiveness of the engine and DCT gearbox appears to make this ship of a car (once rolling) more accelerative than my previous Gen-2 997 Turbo! I had a similar issue with said Porsche which was again just too good to get any sensation if fun until it was too dangerous! So, I'd give up just some of that capability for a better quality of sound, more feel and a weight reduction (which is ironic given the F-Type gets accused of being overweight!).
Indeed, weight is where the Jag will have a huge advantage over the BMW, especially if it can offer 80% of the M6's refinement at the same time. The M6 simply can't disguise its near two tonne weight on a twisty bumpy road - there's no denying it does a remarkable job, but it's still a compromise.
Heck, I've not even driven an F-Type yet so I could just be talking rubbish!!

Is the quote regarding the XKR-S genuinely available or has anyone got near it?....would be good to know.....if so it blows the f-type out of the water...maybe older technology but has a real presence on the roadI'm no stranger to expecting a silly deal on a new car but the discounts are so huge that even I wondered if they're really attainable!
