I thought that on the run up to New Year; being a time for reflection, a post documenting or illustrating Porsche cars that we always regretted selling would be of some interest.
Although I sold the illustrated car over thirty years ago I have as you can imagine- always regretted it.
I bought my RS Touring in 1979 and sold it in 1983. I did realise at the time that I had something special, but the move to a bigger house meant it had to go. Stunning car. As said though at least you lived the dream while you could.
I'm in exactly the same position as I enter the new year. I have a MK1 GT3CS which I love but we've just bought an old run down house which we know our dreams are greater than our budget for.
How much longer can I keep the GT3?
That's anyone's guess. I must admit though without being rude, I dread the thought of being in your position in 30 years time.

Ha, I know what you mean Shep, I'm prepared to live like a pauper for the next few years. It's convincing the wife to join me that's the problem. 
To be fair my wife understands my car habit and doesn't want to see it go either. Needs must though so we'll see how far how we get on the funds we have.

I am the first to carp on about fried eggs, but that bloody Peugeot, whats it called? SCZ? Style over substance, defined.
I parked my 968CS next to a Ford Fiesta, walked away, stop and looked back (as you do) ............ and the top of the roof was just about in line with the window line of the Fords door. I was utterly amazed.
Modern small cars are massive.
OP. One of my customers had a new RS as a company car back in 73. He was allowed to keep it when he left the firm several years later.
He was some kind of surveyor and when he bought a new house and went self employed, the RS had to go. He sold it so he could afford a few home upgrades ........... and to buy a brand new Mini pickup!!!!!
He'd always regretted it, as a big petrol head but not being on the Porsche classic scene for years, we got chatting and I took him out in my 993, it brought such great memories back of the one and only 911 he's previously owned, that he went and bought his own 993.
He once casually asked if an RS was worth much today. I gently steered the subject on to other things.

The 964 RS is a no stories, all original panel/paint LHD car and has circa 42k miles on it. Best guess somewhere between £75-85k.(Only answer if you're sure you're mentally stable
)The 993 RS had 60k miles on it when I sold it. It was subsequently sold and the buyer had it inspected by JZM. They said it was one of the best they'd seen and that it had clearly had lots of money spent on it (it had, I know, 'cos I spent it ! !)
A proper lightweight example, no eleccy windows, no airbags, (so lightweight early dash) no air con. Factory supplied with a Cup steering wheel and CS spoilers.
It's got a bit of "history" now, as it got into a car/Armco "interface" at the Oulton RS day 2-3 years ago (not serious though). Still worth £110-20k of anyones money IMO (and maybe a tad more)
As I said, no regrets . . . . .
