Big 12” bright red flames.
I have just been informed that the V8S produces really big flames from the exhaust. Now, I suppose most people would consider this to be a bad thing (Mrs Z commented that if people told her they could see flames coming from her car she would worry it may catch on fire. Well in a 1L polo perhaps I would worry as well). But from the general consensus at TVR power tonight, flames from the exhaust on the over-run is a good thing
And, yes I know it may be running a little rich, but that should be sorted after I put my new cam in and have it mapped.
Now all I need is a video,
Z

It happens on a V6 as well...
Seen it myself in Tunnels... 2nd gear big revs...back off revs...Pop Bang Flames....
IIRC RichardR following me to a PH meet also witnessed it...
Mind you...The 440r's at LeMans flamed at almost every corner, for 24 hours so I would say we've got some catching up to do....
Thats it
UKBob should forget the idea of a Cerb and get a LM 440.....

I recently overtook one of my colleagues on a motorway down ramp who has a new company Honda R type something - his quote was
" f
k me, that goes and when you change gear, flames come out of the exhaust pipe - awesome"
He's only got half an engine, being in-line 4 pot. That must be great praise from a "neuvaux" Chav, surely ?
I remember blasting past a maxxy fiesta at about midnight through a motorway tunnel and then at the next merge ramp (ie joining the main motorway about 1/4 mile further on) they came roaring up to the back bumper as I lifted off to fit into a gap...
"bang!!!" and I saw the front of this fiesta light up with the flame that shot out (didn't see the flame but saw its refelction)... they backed off sharpish...

I remember the first TVRCC meet I went to with MrSheen, I was in the S2 on the way home in the dark trying to keep up (which wasnt difficult with Andy driving mind) He floored it in second and then lifted off and just as I got close, there were big big flames I backed off sharpish!!! It was then I knew I had tom get a V8?

The Hatfield Tunnel culprit was me apparently
so I was told when we got to Silverstone. For some unknown reason I started flaming last year - have had it checked out by Austec and all is in order, more or less. Must stop feathering the throttle so much - it also occasionally has a mind of its own on the overun too. However, I'm now in the slow process of fitting new s/s manifolds to go with the exhaust so we'll see if that makes things better . . . or worse
I would very much like to see the mpeg/video clips though . . . please Chris!

Flames.......... ah reminds me when I had a problem with the ignition ECU gizmo. Plenty of fuel going in but no sparks on a fast stretch at night
. Apart from the slight kangarooing it was the day light I could see in the rear view mirror that told me something was not quiet right
