Let's see now...

- Smaller and shorter than its bigger brother
- 450hp
- 1,350KG
- Extensive use of carbon fibre
- Simple and elegant interior
- Low volume.

Ladies and Gentlemen I present the Cayman GT4. Not really, its a mock up of the Mclaren P13 which you have probably all seen and will be on our roads in 2015. Looks like a little like a pumped cayman does it not ?

Truth is I am not really getting on with the idea of swapping my car for a 991. The Cayman looks so much better than it and yet, Porsche have hamstrung the Cayman with so much baggage from the 991, they are not selling many.

If I ignore the fact that I am sitting in a BMW with a different badge, my main gripe is that the 991 Turbo is just too big for me to drive how I prefer to on the roads I live on. The 997 Turbo is at my limit, both performance wise and size wise. I don't really want for anything faster.

I don't care if the P13 is slower than the 991 Turbo, I really don't or, that it might be bit more expensive, if it looks anything like the P1 and sounds or drives anything like the MP4 then, count me in.

What has gone wrong with Porsche's current lineup? What should Porsche's response be?

Please give us an update after you've driven it and realise it's half as exciting as the 'digital' Cayman smile

Thoughts mirror my own ( if I sell). Nothing new in the range appeals after extended drives (seen 3 GT3 up close and do fancy a drive though).

I tend to agree.

Where does one go after a Cayman R for road use in the Porsche line up if you enjoy driving.
Porsche don't offer a car for sale today I would want to buy.
It must be the last car they sold with, a real LSD, passive dampers, and great steering.
Not sure why there are so few on here, as there are many on track days.

If it's then down to A to B speed it's hard not to buy a GTR with the gen 3 now below 50k.

Not a fan of every single car being bigger than the last one either, when will this stop ?

Let's hope the new 2015 TTRS is a great drivers car as I loved that engine.
And I hope the new Cayman GTS is more than a parts bin car.

Current Cayman R will end up being a true drivers classic at this rate.

If that is REALLY what the MCL will look like, not very good news. It's already current/almost passe' in it's styling.

I wouldn't worry - it's unlikely to look like a bad photoshop.

I agree with you C, they are very confident about the P13.....Albeit it will more £ than a 13MY 12C....?

I'd expect another anodyne re-enactment from Macca...but YMMV ...and they could surprise...3rd times a charm and all.

But if you want smaller...then why not Aston's V12VS

Quite the bulldog.

I'm another one waiting for the P13 until making a decision on a brand new car...

If not, I might put my money into a 962 replica. If you want 'brand new' and analogue, you don't have many choices these days!

CD what about a GT3 RS?

I found the 991 ok on country lanes, have you driven 991 Turbo yet?

Agree on brand especially now that they make diesels however still more exclusive than Audi/BM/Merc based on production numbers.

Yeah, its looking that way, the Spyder drivers have a strong case for their cars but there is something about the R.

Thanks, I will check it out, put off by others experiences here of Aston ownership.

Have to wait and see on the RS, the big problem is usually acquiring one and the last two RS cars have been a bit fussy to my eyes styling wise. The 991 GT3 would have been the one for me but it's just too big.

The 991 Turbo is even faster than my current car, I will end up in prison no doubt. My heart is not in the styling.

Would not be so sure the p13 will be significantly smaller than the 12c. Probably shorter but will not be much less wide if at all given it is going to be underpinned by the same carbon tub. If you think the 991 gt3 is too big I cannot see how the p13 will be any smaller. The 12c is a bigger car than it looks in pictures.....

Maybe, but 100k without options and in great demand means not just right now. A superb v12v is available for 80k.

Get the mclaren , then come back here and tell us all about the gremlins , the poor customer service , the breakdowns , the warning lights , the ill fitting glass , the corrosion (!) , lack of radio reception , terrible bluetooth and infotainment , Stone Age sat nav and the stupid bills . Then see if you can live with the unnatural feeling rear end ( open diff only electronics ) . I'll see you back at the local opc a couple months later .

For regular use , nothing this side of an f12 comes close to the big turbo pork .

The current Porsche range is brilliant , one model for each desire .

save yourself a lot of bother and buy the blue 997 GT3.2 for sale if you want a drivers car. All the car you'll ever need actually in reality a boxster Spyder is all the car you'll ever need. Me for road every day driving do not think you can beat a 997 t boring as it is if you need rear seats. Modern Porsche line up is average though but on reflection no worse than the 997 or 996 before it.

A Singer is $500,000 in real world as no one orders the bare bones model for $380,000. Thats a bit expensive for a 964 on steroids nice car as it is? The old SC with no heating, no abs, no pas is a bit of a leap for most people with a modern car.
