Hi

Posted this yesterday on GG but thought I might get a better response here.

My Wife's 2006 Focus is about to complete its 3rd year of loyal service and, apart from the alternator giving up at a rather inconvenient moment, it's been a joy to own. Being a Ghia it's plenty comfortable enough and surprisingly good on fuel around town (35mpg rising to 45mpg on a good run)

However there are now a few things that require attention.

The clutch is frighteningly light now: feels similar to when the slave cylinder went on a Fiesta I had (Hope I'm right on my jargon here). There is very little feel to it, it's more of a switch than a normal clutch!

Also, the car is now very rarely getting up to temperature, needle doesn't rise above 1/4 mark and economy is down 5-6 mpg tank after tank.

What I really want to know is: are there any other jobs I should look at whilst getting works done? Labour at the Main Stealer, TC Harrison, is actually not to bad (Their servicing is fiercely competitive and they DO price match) and I also know of a friendly garage who I have an account with. So, should I be looking at having the waterpump done with the thermostat etc?

The car is definitely a keeper for us, and I hope to run it for many more years. So all advice welcome. Also any other handy knowledge about this engine will be warmly received.
