Number of breath tests down 29% since 1997
Number of accidents involving drink drivers up 16%.
Anything to do with the fact that there are less TrafPol on the roads these days?

Cameras don't catch drunk drivers.
Cameras don't catch bad drivers.
Cameras just measure speed.
Cameras are a blunt instrument used to make important that which can be measured rather than an attempt to measure what's important.
We all know it. So why doesn't the Gov't do something about it.
Abolish the SCPs NOW. Take their budget. Give it to Trafpol. Put someone in charge who knows what they're on about. Job done.

That's because most beat/district panda cars don't have breath kits in them....besides they are usually too busy to be doing breath tests.....
As for trafpol...we know about their numbers...
However, I read an article in the nick the other day detailing the escalating number of drink related collisions, uninsured drivers etcetc..from the Home office, which highlighted the lack of trafpol number....!
(Like someone else had reduced them..
So, it look promising that numbers might increase again...
Can't see the camera numbers declining though..
