Carbon Fibre door sill treadplates
Discussion
Has anyone purchased (from a UK supplier) carbon fibre door sill treadplates for a 2010 4.7 vantage please ?
The OEM polished metal set I have as standard have some scratches and rather than have these repolished and coated I was looking into purchasing a carbon set to compliment the OEM carbon front splitter and carbon rear diffuser.
I've searched and found vcollection in the USA as per link below and seems they will ship to the UK for additional cost but wondering if there are any UK sources that people have used and recommend for me please, thanks and happy new year Andy

It's not a DIY procedure as it has to be done in the Autoclave. Its real carbon fibre, just laminated onto the original part so the fit and finish is perfect. It takes about a 3 week turnaround. You would need to send me the parts to do, or send me some badly scuffed, used ones and then just swap them over when I have finished them.
I have DB9 sill plates here that can be done (because I purchased used ones as mentioned above for my own car) and then exchanged, but I dont think they would fit your car?

thanks very much for the idea V12 and what a stunning effect 8tech, that looks a really high quality laminate. Could you advise where you sourced the laminate from please and ease of application ?
Thanks Andy
You certainly don't need an autoclave for applying a CF mat on top of an OEM part. Autoclaves are generally used when making a complete part out of CF, which is not the case here. There is a UK supplier that provides everything you need to laminate your own parts with CF mat using the vacuum bagging approach. Do a search and I am sure you'll find it. They also have lots of DIY videos on YouTube to learn hoe to use their products. Thanks Andy

I was thinking of giving it a go having seen some the videos and starter kits these have. Shouldn't be too difficult to make a mould from the existing ones.
Yup, that's the outfit I was talking about. Laminating an OEM part, though, is a lot less work than making a mould so that you can make a 100% CF replacement.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
