Discussion
These are usually LHD trucks changing lanes

Did teh car expect the truck to drop back or was the truck in the cars blind spot?

Entirely the fault of the Honda. Another div who can't join a motorway.
Of course. It was completely unreasonable for the truck driver to back off a little.God forbid.
If both were in blind spots 50:50?

What those mean is "give way" it means you have to give way to other traffic, as it is their right of way, and you're giving them their right of way.

Joining the motorway. When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip road) or from an adjoining motorway. You should
give priority to traffic already on the motorway
check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow in the left-hand lane
not cross solid white lines that separate lanes or use the hard shoulder
stay on the slip road if it continues as an extra lane on the motorway
remain in the left-hand lane long enough to adjust to the speed of traffic before considering overtaking.
Unreasonable? Not at all, it his right of way and he shouldn't have to cater for a f259

If it had continued travelling at its original speed (or accelerating) the manoeuvre would have been fine.

Could have easily been avoided by the truck lifting off a little. Stupidity as often seen with dashcams fitted "because I had priority". Idiot.
Could also have been avoided by the Honda driver not steering his car into a lorry. Just because someone is discourteous to you, doesn't mean it makes sense to crash into them.pits said:

No, Far better for the lorry to maintain his speed, there could well have been cars or another lorry following him and that could have caused lots of slowdowns, if the Honda had also braked then you have the situation of the lorry slowing even more and in the worst case stopping. Major risk that people behind could hit the slowed or stopped traffic.Far better for the car to ignore the lines or actually turn his head to see about his bubble and merge into predictably flowing traffic.
Entirely the fault of the Honda driver, he is joining the motorway and should match and merge.
