As per title - Sony to "remove online support" for a few games in first half of 2014 including Gran Turismo 5. Link:

Does that mean it will no longer be playable online, or rather that the online competitions, time trials etc will not be refreshed?

Perhaps more importantly, now that GT6 has been released, does anyone care?

It means the servers running the multiplayer will be taken down.
MAG is also going early in the year do don't buy that as it's only multiplayer!
Old versions of FIFA etc don't have online working anymore, 2-3 years at most usually.

Thanks for the response - I'd assumed that online sessions were generally peer-hosted so Sony online support was redundant. Guess not! Also hadn't occurred that it was 'business as usual' for a lot of older games.

Also assume that lack of responses mean little playing of GT5 by anyone now. Still surprised given reported poor GT6 sales though.

True I was surprised it's happening within 6 months of gt6.

I bought madden '10 about a year ago as a mate had it and it was cheap but the online was no longer working.

I don't know, maybe it's just ea who do it, I know cod online still works on cod4 on ps3 so it depends on the game really.
