Having seen and heard one of these and noted the tidyness of the installation, can't help thinking that Toyota should have made one...

What's in the boot? Looks like more than a battery. Fuel tank?

I was thinking that, but there's no mention of it in the ad.

If done properly these are lovely to drive.
He's dreaming if he thinks you'll see which way a turbo went though...

Such a Pity Toyota never made a Mk4 MR2

He probably means the V6 is much easier to drive more quickly due to no turbo lag, or the need to even change gear! on a track or the open road the turbo would show it the way... but on normal roads with normal road driving, the V6 torque makes it a much faster car. no gear change needed - pull away in 3rd and up to 100 in 3rd... it's all about flexibility. It's a big easy lazy fast car. I know this cos i have one too. just prod right foot and whoosh! it's not FAST, but it's certainly very quick in real situations.

A bit more weight on the back can't be bad either... wink

deffo agree that Mr T should have done it.

Deffo agree a Mk4 is needed

The change of engine hasn't been reported to DVLA though, so I'd be all kinds of cautious about it.

It's not unusual with these conversions.

The process the DVLA have in place means it's significantly easier for the next owner to change the details than the one who did the home conversion.

Actually, it's due to the fear of dvla insisting on an IVA test

My (limited) understanding is that providing the bulkhead and/or transmission tunnel hasn't been modified it won't need one. But there is always the age old engine number situation as well...

If I had unlimited funds I would probably stick a 2GR-FE in mine, 3.5 V6 puts out about 325hp standard, also found in the Evora biggrin

Now that would see off a lot of Turbos.

I had a Rev3 Turbo that imploded one day & had a V6 conversion done by Rogue Systems, think they might be Rogue Motorsport now.
It was a conversion that really suited the MR2, totally different driving style of course & lots of torque available in any gear. I had planned to find a TRD supercharger to mate to it but that proved nigh on impossible at the time. I felt it needed an extra kick, yes it went well & sounded fantastic with the Blitz Nur-Spec exhaust, but in fact that was the problem really, it didn't quite go as well as it sounded.
Having said that I really enjoyed it at the time, & the installation by Rogue was faultless.

Doesn't it only make 276 bhp in the Evora? The supercharged one (Evora S) is 345.

I never reported engine changes to DVLA, just because I never saw the point, I told insurance obviously but if it's the same fuel and tax class why would the dvla give a monkeys?

There has been many conversions and every single one of them from different dynos in different countries has reported way over 300hp. My 2GR engine MR2 made approx. 320hp, and roughly 270 ATW which is the figure I'm more concerned about. They respond very well when unshackled from 4 catalytic converters and restrictive intakes.

There is that train of thought, myself included see below for how to change the CC on the V5

DVLA Website said:
Engine number or cylinder capacity (cc)

You’ll need to provide either:
a receipt for the replacement engine
written evidence from the manufacturer
an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
written confirmation on headed paper from a garage (if the change took place before you bought the vehicle)
See how the above means it's considerably easier to change the CC for the next owner rather than the original homebuilder who doesn't have a receipt for the engine.
