Photoshop Elements - 11 or 12? Which to buy?

It's been 10 odd years since I seriously dabbled with a camera, just about as digital was starting to boom.

Having purchased a 650D last year, it is probably time to start feeling my way around Photoshop.

I think Elements will do everything that I need it to do, but I have a few very basic questions, as this is all very alien to me!

1. Is there a big difference between Elements 11 and 12? There is only a few £'s difference on Amazon so I presume 12 would be the preferred choice.

2. Is Photoshop easy to self teach? I am rubbish with all things technical, so I'm hoping that it is idiot proof.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went from a 500D to 650D last year and find that it's very rare that my pix need any tweaking now, the pix are great out of the camera, I tend to shoot in P. The 500 pix often needed a tickle.
Funnily enough yesterday, I was talking about how little I use PSE now. My 650 was recently joined by a 5dMk2, but I must confess I seem to grab the 650 every day for my 365 project rather than the 5d as I like it so much. The 5d comes out for my motor sport pix.

If you can stretch a little more, you could look at Lightroom - try the free trial. For basic photo manipulation and post-processing it's arguably easier to pick up than Photoshop.

From the little I know from making comparisons, I don't believe Lightroom offers the layers which I was hoping to use to create flyers / leaflets for my business.

Please correct me if my info is wrong, as this could be a deciding factor.

That's correct, Lightroom is just photo editing, not image creation etc.
