Swift Sport owner looking for a new car
Discussion
Hello,
I'm owning a Swift Sport (3 door) from 6 years and it's time for a change.
I can afford only one car, so it has to be good for everyday driving and maybe fit a baby in 1 year.
The Swift is very fun little car but it lacks power. In general I want something that's faster but still fun to drive.
So far I tested: Toyota 86, Golf GTI, Megane RS, Focus ST.
Toyota GT 86:
Great position and handling (what a surprise), way underpowered engine. This car doesn't feel any faster then the swift, although it's great fun to drive (first car I've ever driver with rwd). The lack of rear seats means it's out of the list.
GTI PP (DSG):
First automatic car for me and frankly I'll stick to manual. The steering wheel is lacking feel, but it is very relaxed and refine car for fast driving. The interior quality is superb and I really like the adaptive suspension. Beside the fact it wasn't very fun to drive and there is almost no engine noise the overall package is quite good, especially if it's a manual.
Megane RS:
I don't like the exterior and the interior, however the handling is gorgeous. After 1 hour of driving my back was hurting, the suspension is too stiff for everyday drive. The clutch pedal was vibrating, which I fount to be very strange.
Focus ST:
Good noise and handling. Exterior, I can live with it, but the interior is terrible quality, especially compared to the Golf. Trunk size is small, overall I don't like it so much.
If I stretch the budget to the limit M135i (but i don't like the look at all and here the winter is 5 months)
So far I'm thinking about Golf R manual, if you ask my wife, we need 320d touring or 320d GT... go figure!
What do you think guys ?
Cheers!
