New heater mod

Have changed the heater outlets so the hot air goes to the air
vents and down to the floor ,and taken off the pipes from the
bonnet so it will demist the windows now if I can remember how
to put the dash back in ,still got to get a resistor thing for
the heater hoping to get one tomorrow

Just done that on mine, it's made a big difference to de-misting. Stopped one of the fresh air ducts short of the eyeball so the fresh air gets sucked into the heater inlet. Mine's an S3.

Hi Barry, I don't suppose there is an easy fix to get the airflow to the feet vents?

I had the dash plate out of my S3 last year and checked the cables actually moved something on the heater, which they did, but unfortunately, the heat on my S3 only comes out of the top (windscreen and fascia) vents irrespective of where the heater sliders are set.

I looked at the corrugated pipes (as far as I could see) and they seemed to be attached to the heater, but obviously, they then plunge into the wings. I guess they could be un-attached at the footwell vents, but have no idea how to remove the vents to check.

Any ideas/suggestions welcome as the only real annoyance from driving in winter is that my feet start to freeze!!

I connected the eyeballs to the heater so you get warm air though them only finished today but it should work well

If you're pipes aren't connected to the heater properly that could be it,or
the flat thing in the heater isn't moving up and down to change the flow of air not easy to see with the dash in

I've just thought. Does the S1 have eyeball vents in the footwell? If not, you may be wondering what I was talking about! Sorry.

Picture is a bit blurred, but I assume you have directed open pipe end towards the footwell area?

Barry/Mike, thanks for the info.

I have an endoscope that links to my laptop which I bought to help me when I did the dash plate, so I'll see what I can see, but if all else fails, I should be able to break into the existing ducting and direct some air to feet.
