So I sold my treasured CL500 and bought a Mini Cooper S mainly for my Mrs to drive while she was staying with me over the Summer (she's a student and was living in Italy and is now back in London). After a few months of ownership, I did my usual mods and got it looking how I wanted it to, and had plenty of fun darting about B-roads in it but it really wasn't ticking all the boxes for me so I decided to clean it up and sell it on.
It sold really quickly which made a change, and then I set about looking for a replacement. I wanted to buy something cheap for cash, but have as many of the luxuries my CL500 had for a fraction of what I paid, and maybe some 4 wheel drive too as I live in the middle of nowhere and our roads are rarely gritted.
I looked at 4.2 V8 D2 A8's, but they all had super high mileage and were the other side of the country so I was pretty pleased when I found a 2.8 V6 Quattro Sport with sub-100k on the clock, FSH and a good spec list.
So a mate drove me up to Birmingham, a deal was done and I drove back down in pure luxury and comfort - like the good old days!
Here it is, a 2001 facelift 2.8 V6 Quattro Sport Audi D2 A8. Black with grey leather, 99000 on the clock, FSH, MOT and a free bottle of anabolic steroids in the rear arm rest (not even joking...!)
It drives beautifully, Ive already whacked 1000 miles on the clock including a lovely 500 mile round trip to the Welsh coast for Christmas - a drive where the Quattro set up was very much appreciated!
It doesn't come without it's issues, the paintwork could do with a good mopping, I still need to transfer my private reg over, I've had to replace most of the bulbs (a good excuse for LED number plate lights, side lights and better OSRAM headlight bulbs!)
Even though it's the little V6, it has a nice bit of pull on the motorways and it also has a straight through exhaust so it sounds great on full chat!
I don't really have much planned for it apart from cleaning it up and giving it a good service and maybe a gearbox service.
No doubt i'll be cruising up to some PH Sunday Services in the new year!

Thanks guys! I must admit I've always loved the styling of the D2 and the D3 for that matter but have often found myself leaning towards the big Mercs. I am pleasantly surprised by the A8, it was cheap to buy, all ali bodied and only £250 a year to insure, even for me at just 26 years old!
I'd love some final edition 20"s but they seem to fetch big money! I'll just enjoy it as standard for a while and then see what happens...

Im still getting on well with mine, although im down seeing my parents on the isle of wight and its an absolute pig to drive on the wet, muddy B roads down here. Wheel,spin in all gears!!

You should wait until the snow comes, they are a true nightmare to keep straight...
