Blasting up the M1 and M6 on my way to the NEC Brum on Wednesday and 7 o'clock at night the bloody headlights give out! Sidelights stayed with me thank*** but was getting cut up all over the place by other cars who could not see me as I crept along!
Got to hotel and onto AA...only joined the day before (one of my better ideas) and they were straight out. VG service but could not find the fault, thought it was bad earth on fuses or repay.
Drove back last night on driving lamps which I fitted a few weeks ago (Second good idea!)Naturally kept speed down at below 120MPH to be on the safeside(Hey,the engine was OK!) and now reckon its the main beam/indicator stalk thats the problem.
If I have the lights on main beam and then return them to dipped headlights,no joy, unless I pull the switch away from the column at the same time when sometimes the headlights do come on.Turn the lights off and try again and its back to square one with no headlights unless I flick on main beam and pull the switch again whilst selecting dipped beam which again comes on if I get it just right.
All agree its the switch?
Mark 111 Escort...right?
Ford say £60 plus VAT ! so will start to try breakers.

Also.... Can anyone please suggest a place I can get some new air induction hoses as I reckon mine are a bit passed it. Blue plastic replacements would be nice!
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers All. Tim

Hi Tim,

Did you really notice the lights go off

I bet the driving lights are 10x better anyway!

Sorry yes, it does sound like it's the switch. Lucas used to sell them so could give tham a call.

Hoses are from Demon Tweeks IIRC.

Hope you sort it soon.

Cheers,
K

Same problem with my S1 when I had her. Took the u/s switch gear up to the breakers and matched it up - £5!! Good luck!

Recently had a very similar problem with my windscreen wipers. Turn out to be one of the connectors from the block that plugs into the stalk had worked its way loose - pulled the stalk away from the bracket and the wire fell out. All I did was firmly plug it back in and wipers work perfectly now... Worth a look?

ACT supply hoses for the S. I have a complete set on order (in blue plastic), hopefully will be sitting at home when I get back from work
