Ontrack Easy Recovery

Has anybody any experience of using this data recovery software? I want to try it on a drive that I accidently deleted the partition from. Do I load it on my main hard drive and let it find the drive I want to recover the data from?
Any advice gratefully appreciated.

It's a good idea to put both the software and the data it finds on a different drive to the one being recovered. This will increase the speed of the recovery and stop you writing over what you just recovered.

Haven't used the software mentioned, but have just gone through a data recovery episode with a hard drive that went pop after what I think was a virus attack. Used a programme called File Scavenger (v2.1) installed on a new HDD I had put in and got everything back. Shareware, so had to pay £25 for the licence, but I retrieved 2000 mp3s, 6000 jpegs and a stack of other stuff, so money well spent, especially looking at the prices some of the other recovery software goes for.

That was on a hard drive with buggered partitions and everything - was showing as 100% used space yet containing no files and with a RAW files structure (over my head, but not a good thing apparently). Breathed a huge sigh of relief when I got my files back, I can tell you....

Excellent, thanks chaps. i thought it would be a good idea to put it on my good drive, but hte documentation was a bit confusing.
