I hate people that talk bks for a living. I do however admire those that can make me laugh.

On that basis I greatly admire Jeremy Clarkson, like Marmite you either love or hate him but he makes me laugh. Coming a close second is Michael McIntyre for the same reason.

Who do you admire and why?

I would have to say Ricky Gervais for the same reasons as you, he is an utter genius, brilliant writer and comiedian, and a not too shabby actor aswell, everything he has done is utterly hilarious and a masterpiece. again he is like marmite.

Also Karl Pilkington, if you agree, you probably know what I mean, otherwise you'll probably think he is a dithering idiot. Utter brilliance.

For anyone who questions Ricky Gervais' acting ability, I think a watch of his mums' deathbed scene in The Invention of Lying puts any doubts to rest.
He is hugely talented and deserves every bit of success.

Nigel Farage, Pat Condel and David Starkey, the only 3 people that seem to talk any sense.

Dear J,

John Peel for still retaining in mature years that "must play over and over again" enthusiasm for a tune.
Paternal grandfather. He didn't just make stuff, he made the tools to make stuff. I wish I had inherited that skill. Introduced me to Armagnac, I do have the skill to drink it smile

regards,
Jet

+1 James Martin. Comes across as that bloke who's worked hard to get where he is and doesn't come across as smug.

Chris Harris,

Even from his time on Autocar always found his delivery informative and witty. Any man that's going to get Gallardo on the tic in the name of bringing the living experience to those who merely dream of them is mental. I've been guilty of boring the Mrs with a couple of his less sideways videos.

There were others but I really didn't want to get on my soap box etc smile

Seb Loeb, not admiration as such but deep respect - I'm not one for hero worship in any way and I will often cheer for the underdog so I didn't really pay much attention to his WRC days, although there was never any doubt of his skill; it was his obliteration of the previous Pikes Peak record that really made me think, "this guy has immense talent and massive cojones."
