Is toyota verso 1.6 too under-powered?
Discussion
anyone had/got one? Looking at 2008-2011 toyota versos. There is a 1.8 petrol version, or 1.6. Obviously the 1.8 appears to make a bit more sense but I haven't driven either, and the main point is, if I am willing to consider the 1.6 it opens up the possibilities a lot (of getting a good quality unabused one). Diesel is out for variety of reasons.
but they might be woeful. Its for my sis + kids so high performance not necessary, but has to be reasonable. Anyone got experience?

We've got a 2009 Toyota Auris with the 130bhp 1.6. Perfectly adequate round town and it pulls alright with some revs on it (who wants to do 5k+ rpm in such a car though?.
On the motorway in 6th though it just doesn't have the power to accelerate. It just doesn't need 6 gears - or 6 tall gears anyway. 70mph with foot on floor and it just doesn't accelerate...
It all depends where you are going to drive it. If it's on the motorway then I'd go for the 1.8.
Check the quality of the gear change. Ours is awful and is difficult to change gear especially when cold. A number of times I've been left fishing in the dark for a gear.
