... ist apparently what the policeman said to the Neighbourhood Watch guy who dialled 999 to report that vandals were damaging cars.....

(Wonder what they would have done had the old geezer reported speeding

{"Daily Express" - Thursday 11/11/04 - Nick Fagge reports)

Retired civil servant Brian W (71) is shocked:

"The lunatics have taken over the asylum We should have sign - if you burgle this house - there is only slight possibility you will be arrested "

He ist so upset - he almost gave up his Neighbourhood watch duties.

He saw the cars being scratched on Halloween Night. He called the police and was told that "He could not report other people's crimes"

The Good Captain..... take heart from this ... .... we cannot report ... when (gasp) when we see PC Gatso getting his dues - as we cannot "report other people's crimes" ....

Devon und Cornwall Police stand by this: "You do have to be a victim to report a crime!" "We need to speak to the victims of crime"

He's been reading too many Bush-isms!"

The Home Office say:

"The police are simply saying they need to ask the victim to confirm thay have been a victim of crime They are not sayin you cannot report it!"

It ist "de trop" as Sartre would say ....

I once reported the sound of lots of breaking glass - a noise that was repeated every few minutes.

Four police cars turned up in the car park of the flats I was living in. There was even a plod running down the road from the Police Station (just a few hundred yards away).

They all whizzed off in different directions to see if they could locate the noise.

Turned out it was railway workers dumping new gravel on the tracks

There isn't any work shyness in the police....far from it...any deviation from normal practise or neglect of duty is dealt with seriously and firmly!!!!

Christ, hours and hours of time is spent on bullshit jobs, just because some scrote wants to complain.

For example:

Mr scrote has fallen out with Mrs Scrote...she's scratched his car. He's sure he wants to complain and she's arrested. Hours of paperwork and interviews and bails to court......Before a court date..they're all lovey dovey and we have to pull the job as he makes a retraction statement.

That is a true story and has happened with the same couple over 20 times in the last couple of years....(not always scratched cars, but similary stuff)..

After the first half dozen complaints, followed by retractions a BiB arrived at yet another complaint at their house and refused to deal with it as they were wasting everyone's time and he had better things to do. They complained..the bobby lost 3 days wages and the circle now continues as no other bobby is going to get into the shite for them...

It's about time the police started to get a bit workshy..that way we would start dealing with proper stuff and not the shite we have to...

I have mates on beat who spend hours on end interviewing school kids, some as young as 10 years old, following a playground fight (where nobody was injured)...cautions/reprimands for common assault..

Workshy? Workshy? If only..

Anybody that served in Northumberland in the old days will recall T.J.F initials that was somewhere on every bit of paper that went out of the Force area. Seems they were right.

I'm with Streetcop, probably made up by the media based on an eensy weensy teeny tiny modicum of truth that was in fact misinterpretation of what was actually said anyway.

Or like the coppers that couldnt be arsed to attend a case in Berks recently where an old woman was stabbed and bled to death yet when a speed camera gets torched in Windsor 4 cars attend within 5 minutes...

Please give it a rest with the holier than thou speeches, I saw the apology but the Police arent always faultless...

Christallfookingmighty.....

Every fooking post I post..isn't holier than thou and the posts on this thread aren't that....!

The police aren't faultless in the slightest...in fact, at the moment they are full of fooking faults...absolutely to the brim...as they are dancing to the political tune of number 10 and hugging and kissing criminals...

People are getting stopped for driving without documents in this country....(who's dates of birth are always 1st January..) and allowed to continue as we have no real powers of dealing with them....

Only recently a call came in that 3 illegal immigrants had turned up at the A&E department demanding the police were called as they had been dropped off at the docks, in a truck, and were cold and hungry. Our gaffers refused to have them arrested and instead told them to make their way to an arrivals centre in Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The police are fully to blame for all this kind of shite...but it's not the ones who you see on the streets......unless you have binoculars and can see up into the Ivory Towers.

No. A chap I know was told he couldn't report a crime because he wasn't the victim.

Of course, the criminals were Policemen, which may have had something to do with it.

He should have rung our Professional Standards Department....they are just creaming every day to find ways of prosecuting police officers...

They even now visit police car parks to check if police car doors are locked. Also offices...if computer screens aren't locked..the last users gets fined....

If you've got a complaint against the coppers...get it sorted...get the copper fired and then...very soon the new breed of coppers will be in place.....everyone..polite, non-discrimination experts, non-sexist, social workers, interested in crime patterns, analysis, community safety warden liaison...lots of things that don't actually involved dealing with the bad guys...
