My reverse camera seems to have developed an issue and, whilst working as it always has, is now displaying some kind of psychedelic rendition of what's behind me:

Any suggestions? Tried cleaning it, tapping it, etc, and no joy. My car's also got an aftermarket front-facing Kenwood camera which is activated by a hidden toggle switch, however it's had this since I bought the car and has never interfered with the OEM reverse one.

Could it be the camera itself?

I imagine the reverse camera was installed along with the font (no 'OEM' cameras on Aston Martins). As the front displays OK, then it is probably the camera that is at fault.

They are an option on the later cars but as "Windy's" seems to be a 4.3 roadster you are right
Looks like noise injection on the video signal as you are getting a partial image, if you can get to it might be worth trying another camera direct in to video input.

It's the camera itself. Most likely water ingress due to poor sealing as it is a Chinese camera.

Look for a like for like on eBay and then wire it in. No need to wire fully in, just chop and wire in where convenient closer to the boot. Unless it's extremely easy to do it properly which it may be.

So is this thing not OEM?

I'll pop the front off and see what the wiring inside is like so I can find a replacement.

Paralight, I bought my car with this already fitted (activated when I select reverse on my sport shift 'box) as well as a front-facing Kenwood CMOS200/300 camera activated by a toggle switch in the ashtray. There's also a Dension kit fitted with the iPod lead popping out where the gearstick would be on a manual. Do you have any idea where the installer may have fitted it all in terms of the control boxes? Mine's an '08 Roadster.

The control unit for the reverse camera system may well be under the ICM, centre dash unit. There is a joiner plug there for the NAV System. I would junk the rear camera and get a Kenwood CMOS 210 to replace it. I use these to great effect.

The Camera interface will have two yellow RCA jacks plugged into it for the front and rear camera, just so you know what to look for.

The control unit for the Dension is often placed on the left hand of the transmission tunnel. However it can all depend on who fitted the kit. If you find some stuff and are not sure what it is, send pics and I will try and identify.

Hope this helps, feel free to give me a call.

All the best,

James

This is what's inside the box:

3 wires - black, yellow and red. So can I just swap it for another ebay special by snipping the wires and reconnecting it?
